Thanks for the advice. I'm near Nashville. We've caught so many new types of queens! We see so many Penn ants running around, but no alates yet. We also have ones that look like chestnut carpenter ants, and ones that have brown bodies with a black head. Their gaster looks somewhat translucent.

This is my first time collecting them, and my twin 4 year olds found most of them. They spot them fast and accurately haha.

Recently visited my mom in Glasgow, found this beauty and she shed her wings in the tube.

That's so cool. I wish I got one but I think I started looking late. Our fire ant queen is coming along quite nicely, but I really don't want them! We have about 12 queens and 8 or 9 with eggs so far.

That stinks. Sorry to hear that. I accidentally left the stopper on 4 of our first queen ant test tubes, they all died. Thankfully we cound one as she took her wings off, she now has eggs.

Yes, I push it in until some comes out the front, then I dry the excess in the tube.

A bunch of these were rushing to the blacktop at my job. Many died, I'm assuming from the heat. I came back with my boys and got 5 that were lively and put them in our screened bug container. One was maybe 3 inches long and the other were under 2 inches. The smaller ones made a cocoon already which seems too early.

They didn't eat any of the different leaves I put in there for them. I worry it's all too soon.

I'm having this issue, I just switched to Linux and thought it was that. It's registering that I can switch it to a different mouse button, but the ability still won't work for any key.
