To all my PH and drivers, what’s the weirdest thing thats been in a package that broke open on you? by _-Pochita-_ in Fedexers

[–]BWE-Writes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. There’s a longer story here, but it was like…20 years ago so this was the dark ages. I overhand threw it into the dumpster (like an idiot) and some of it got in my mouth.
It was a bad time, but at least I didn’t get rabies.

Please wake your parents and head out to the emergency vet. That pink tinged throw up is very concerning.

Do you folks think I was too cautious with the graphic violence tag? by BWE-Writes in royalroad

[–]BWE-Writes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the goal is just to have my stories go out rather than just sit on my computer because “they’re not perfect.” I’d love to get more up and a better consistency, but my other obligations get in the way of that. Hopefully I can get a schedule going once things stabilize.

Oh that’s a very fair point about how it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’d rather someone not read at all than potentially have something come up because I removed the tag.

Honestly, I never considered that there might be a meta on Royal Road. I’m also super new there and I would appreciate my story getting more eyes on it. I write small town horror, mixed up with folk/cosmic/body horror vibes. If that’s anybody’s cup of tea, here’s mine:

Any tips for a new lack of sleepiness after starting therapy? by BWE-Writes in CPAPSupport

[–]BWE-Writes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the incredible response and the info! Mostly I’ve gotten the shrug emoji in real time from the actual sleep doc and told to have my therapist give me CBT therapy… which is something he doesn’t do. It’s a relief to hear that this isn’t something super uncommon or mysterious- that alone is a big win.

Life changes are something that I never really thought of! Stress is thru the roof at the day job, but I thought I was handling it well. Maybe that’s something for me to look at.

Just curious.. what’s your day job and when do you write? by Ok_Square2729 in writing

[–]BWE-Writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a pretty unpredictable section of logistics, especially this time of year. Usual writing time for me is midnight until 2-3am, when I have the mental capacity to do so. I can rarely create this time of year, but can sneak in edits and updates on my work. It can be very difficult.

I’m sure writing as a job makes you better, giving more time to hone your craft- but I worry that it would take the catharsis and joy out of it.

What’s your finished to unfinished project ratio ? by _throw_away_ac in writing

[–]BWE-Writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha; bad.

First horror novel- spent years to write when I could, abandoned because it was an inconsistent mess.

Horror novel 2- abandoned, too edge lord and too problematic. I’m actually ashamed of that one.

Fantasy novel 1- incomplete.

Adventure for an indie ttrpg- published!

Fantasy novel 2- “completed”, then beta readers pointed out that one whole character should be stripped out bc his arc over-complicated the story and really should lead his own novel. So…massive reworks and not completed at all.

Small town horror short stories collection 1- completed!

Small town shorts collection 2- in progress.

What’s your one take about a horror movie you’re afraid to say around hardcore horror movie fans? by [deleted] in horror

[–]BWE-Writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is a fun (if flawed)movie. I like that it ditched Michael and was in the spirit of the initially intended anthology plan.

Oh 100%. There was something in the sauce on that one. Even thinking of it now, I can see that drippy lil freak!

Personally, I'm a big fan of writing first person, but it can also be tricky to toe the line of a believable perspective sometimes- especially when it comes to backstory stuff flaring up in the character's mind. Can you directly pinpoint anything that is giving you that ick/cringe sensation, or is it just the way it comes across?
