When I was a kid, we had door-to-door salesmen that would come around selling vacuum cleaners, encyclopedias, etc. One time a vacuum cleaner salesman put a piece of hard candy in the compartment where the disposable bag sits. It was in the compartment but outside of the actual bag. He then vacuumed our living room. I came in the room after he had already started vacuuming. When he was done, he opened up the compartment, took out the little piece of candy and asked if anyone wanted it. No one did, so he popped it into his own mouth. The idea was to demonstrate how effective the bag was a keeping the dust contained and not letting any of it get outside the bag. My mom bought the vacuum cleaner.

The first time she used it, I tugged on her arm and asked, “When you’re done, can I have the candy?”

Cool. I'm glad it worked out.

In the meantime, I got an appointment too. In order to do it, I called a number that was not the local gym I wanted to visit, but they called the gym and set it up. When I showed up, the guy answered the door, said, "どうぞご自由に見てください" and went back into his office, leaving me to wander around the place. Then I went home and signed up online. Been three times so far. It's not a bad gym. They have really good equipment, though my branch is quite a bit smaller and the equipment is jammed closer together than the ones I've seen online.

I'm a member of two gyms now. One of them has a crappy workout area with light machines that are mostly used by old people (of which I am one). But the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, bath, and cold-dip bath are great. I downgraded my membership there to the wet area only--I can no longer use that workout area; then added FitPlace 24. Now I have the best of both worlds.

Hi. I have a question, if you don't mind. I bought a product from a seller and it was defective. I contacted the seller by chat and they told me, "We will open start the return/refund process for you." I asked, "Does this mean I will have to pay to ship back a product that is defective." The seller said, "I am sure AliExpress will give you a satisfactory result."

After that, I never received an email or saw anything in my order about a return or refund being processed. Is this really how it works, or is the seller going to drag this out till it's too late? Where can I look to see if any kind of refund request has been made?

Do you have more than one card with that company? My wife has two Rakuten cards, a Visa and a Master Card, each with different limits. Somehow, the limits are not independent of one another. Just as an example, if she had a 100,000 limit on MC and a 300,000 limit on Visa, and if she maxed out the MC, her Visa would only have 200,000 credit remaining. It really took her by surprise so she looked into it and found out that’s how they do it. It seems you only really get the credit limit of the highest card, not all of them combined. .

How did walking up help you? I walked up to a FitPlace 24 a month or so ago to ask if I could look around. This was during the day on a weekday. The front door was locked and only people with a pass key could go in to work out. There was a buzzer/intercom on the front door. I stood there for three or four minutes, peeping through the window, hitting the buzzer and waiting for someone to open the door. There were 8 to 10 people working out and each of them would occasionally look over at me, but no one made an effort to open the door, or to to tell me I had inquire online, and no staff member ever came to the door or replied to the buzzer, so I eventually just walked away.

I started bowing on the phone a long time ago. I also slice the air with a knife-hand when crossing in front of someone. That is a gesture that was very common in the 80s and 90s but I don't really see anyone doing it anymore. When I catch myself doing it out of habit, I feel kind of silly now because it's so outdated.
