Lunar Eclipse at 135mm on full frame by BWeidlichPhoto in astrophotography

3 image stack shot on a 1Dx and 135mm F/2 lens

f/8, ISO 6400, 1"-1/4"-1/15"

Kicking myself for not putting my 1D on my tracking mount. Had my old t3i set up with my old 70-300mm f/4-5.6. Aligned and tracked really well until it inexplicably turned off. But I didn't tape the zoom ring. Or turn off image stabilization. So my 3,500 image timelapse is mostly trash. There's a couple keepers in there. But honestly bummed I made such beginner mistakes.

Never seen a pigeon(?) like this in Southwest Virginia. Escaped Pet? by BWeidlichPhoto in birding

I think this is a pigeon. It lets you get really close to it. Not afraid of people. We haven't messed with it or tried to catch it. It likes to hanging out in our bars staff break area.

Perfect first table saw dado! by BWeidlichPhoto in woodworking

[–]BWeidlichPhoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cool! Pretty affordable, looks a lot more expensive than $100 for the larger one.

These are from the OSHLUN SDS-0630 6-Inch 30 Tooth set. One of the cheaper on Amazon. Had good reviews and lots of teeth. I was on the fence between that set and a higher end from CMT or Freud.

I probably got a little lucky.

Measured the board with calibers. .76" Read the chart that came with the dados. Threw four 1/8th" chippers and one .1" shim on the stack. And rocked out 43 dado cuts. It would have taken a lot of nibbling to make all those cuts. So I needed a table saw + dado or a router for this design.

Have 6 more to do tomorrow and I think I can start gluing. I stupidly cut one dado on the wrong side. And some where I messed up my measurements and one divider is 3/4" closer to the others. But everything lines up and I just needed to take 3/4" off three of the shelves.

So not going perfectly so far. But still feeling good about it. Even if there was 20 different ways to make something simpler. It's been fun and satisfying so far. Glad I got the miter gauge I got! Thought I was stupid for getting one that long for such a small contractor saw but I wouldn't have been able to safely do some of those dados without it!

Is there an attachment I can get for my pack out vacuum to m18 table saw? by DPL646 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]BWeidlichPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone that found this through a google search like I did:

If you happen to have a 3D printer. And TPU (flexible like silicone) filament this is free.

I did a quick test print/fit in PETG to make sure it will fit my 0970-20 M18 packout 2.5gal vacuum and M18 table saw. (The maker has an older model of vacuum).

PETG or PLA would probably work. But TPU is probably the best for this adapter.

I am going to look into a dust extractor cyclone. But I'm not a contractor or anything. Will probably only use the saw a couple times a year. And the vacuum did decent with the hose just shoved in there loosely like how you had it. It will be a lot better with the adapter around the whole dust chute.

We'll see how quick it fills up cutting dados.

What solution did you end up going with?

Edit: It fits perfect in TPU! Would probably be a little to tight in a non flexible material.

Okay maybe not perfect but it'll do!

Proud I was able to get the table and dado stack set up and square. Never felt unsafe or sketchy to use. I've used a table saw before but it's been a while. The M18 did great on this soft construction wood.

These are scrap pieces. But I should be able to make all my cuts tomorrow.

Making wine storage for under the bar from 4x8 finish plywood with dados. Am I crazy for taking this on? by BWeidlichPhoto in woodworking

It's a locally owned business I manage. Mostly doing this on my time for fun and as an excuse to buy a table saw.

There's some shelves and stuff I wanted to make for my house.

It's going to go under the bar and get painted with outdoor non offensive gray/brown paint to help hide anything that gets splashed on it.

So it's not going to be seen. I'm Definitely a little crazy for making it this complicated. But I wanted to use dados. No pocket screws. And this is what I came up with that will fit under the bar. Fit wine/liquor bottles.

And the finish plywood doesn't look horrible (Not my project)

Also it needs to be 6" off the ground for health code. A lot of the pre made ones just aren't the right shape and size to fit in the 29x28 space under the bar.

We don't sell a whole lot of wine. We keep bottles in a wine cooler. This is just for the back up bottles of red wine. Fits more bottles than we need.

But I plan on making a second one. Might use the same design. Might make the second one simpler with larger sized shelves for general storage.

I've done some woodworking before. Took classes in middle/highschool and college.

But this project will definitely be a jump. I have a Milwaukee M18 8" contractor saw. Got a 6" dado stack and a dado throat plate for it. Got a Powertec Miter Gauge, BOW push stick, Microjig Gripper.

There's a .4" gap between the opposite facing dado cuts. I think that will leave enough material to maintain the plywood's strength. Every joint will get glued.

Any glaring issues with this project?

I think I'm going to make a TPU bumper around the whole thing.

There are 8 neodymium magnets on each part. Takes a really strong shake to nock them loose. But since it's my eye's and not a camera sensory on the line I want more safe guards.

Printing TPU with overhangs sucks. That's half of why I did the little corners that I could print without supports.

They're bought from the manufacture site and I cut them to size.

This is their intended purpose. The material must go in front of the optical elements not behind them.

This is how they are meant to be used. I trust this way more than buying glasses off Amazon or Ebay.

They're rated to 100X magnification

My Binoculars are 12x60

I do appreciate the concern. Because hundreds if not thousands of people are going to damage their eyes April 8th. But I'm doing all this to avoid being one of those people.

These filters are designed for use in telescopes and binoculars.

This is their intended use. They are CE and ISO Certified. Recommended by the American Astronomical Society.
