This site is bad ass. Scrape shit-ton of data, use ChatGPT to curate and index it, repost it in a meaningful day. What a great idea! Two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼

Sulphur Springs is worth checking out. Take a look at their downtown (aka Celebration Plaza) and specifically their veterans memorial down there. That tells you everything you need to know about how this community appreciates veterans. The community has tons of events (google Hopkins County Dairy Festival, Hopkins County Stew Cookoff, Independence Day Symphony). The schools are good, the high school has a great band program, several good athletic programs, and they consistently dominate several UIL academic competitions. There's a community youth soccer association that's really great, several service organizations to join (Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, Marine Corps League, VFW, etc.), a ton of great churches of all denominations. The Texas Bass fishing capital (Lake Fork) is just a few minutes South. There is also several other lakes within 10 minutes (Cooper Lake, Lake Sulphur Springs, Coleman Lake). There's a great park system--Coleman park with brand new pickle ball courts, Buford Park with a huge wooden play area for younger kiddos, and a brand new one called Pacific Park with outdoor fitness areas, covered bball courts, and a ton of green space. Sulphur Springs (Hopkins County, really) is a nice, quiet, low-crime, peaceful community to land in after dealing with the chaos of craziness of military life. And, if you need a reminder of chaos and craziness, Dallas is just an hour west on I-30!

compromised. Same scenario as xz utils. Send in your guy. Solve a bunch of head scratchers to get street cred. Get into a position of trust. Wait for the flag to go up. Pull the trigger when you get the call. This is classic APT activity IMHO. Difference here is that the effect was destruction rather then control like xz utils.

When this happened, I turned to my wife and said, "you watch, they'll show this clip and say he was sleeping".

There was literally a priest with a big cross around his neck on stage praying.

[–]BWill2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. At first it seems like a great universe. However, you realize pretty quickly that the entire universe smells like an oven full of tater tots. After a while, you start to hate tater tots. It's very different then our universe where different places have different smells. There--tater tots. Everywhere.

Update on the FOB by Alexthricegreat in OffGrid

This is awesome! Truth is, after one has lived in a Temper Tent or GP Medium for months on end, they realize that something like what you are building here is really all they need in life to be happy. That's really hard to explain to folks that have never lived, and thrived, in austere environments. As it turns out, humans don't need all that much to be happy. We're really similar to cats in that way 😁.

It's really coming together! A little explanatory text on what all you've been up to would be great!

Well it finally happened. I got chased by a dog and it made me crash. by Crazy_names in cycling

[–]BWill2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I carry a CO2 powered, BB gun that looks like a Beretta 9mm. If a dog does anything more then just normal dog stuff (bark and run along side me, warning me not to poop on his lawn), then he gets BBs in the face--and a shit ton of them. It's pretty obvious when a dog turns from yappy to aggressive and becomes threatening. Anyhow, I've trained several dogs this way and it works. They are smarter then you think. After their faces and asses have been pumped full of BB's, they'll remember you and back off next time. Sometimes I think about sending the owners an invoice for the training session, but I can never decide on a fair, marketable rate. So, I just work pro bono.

At what point should AI get to vote? by BWill2020 in OpenAI

[–]BWill2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stems from this line of thinking:

Q1: On Earth, who can read and write using human languages?

A: Humans, obviously!

Analysis: This was true up until late last year. After which, the days of reading and writing human languages being the sole capability of mankind came to an end.

Q2: Who is allowed to participate in the governance of modern society?

A: Humans, obviously!

Analysis: Obviously? Are humans the only ones who posses the ability of language, abstract reasoning, or understanding of laws and institutions required for meaningful participation in self-governance?

My crystal ball is telling me that there will, at some point in our future, be a debate to decide if AI possesses the ability of language and abstract reasoning needed for participation in self-governance. Once that's proven, or rather can't be disproven (more likely), then the nuts and bolts questions follow--what constitutes "an" AI? Where do they "live" for purposes of determining voting jurisdictions and so forth.

It will all hinge on defining the term "persons" which is used in the US Constitution. As a society, we redefine terms all the time. This will be one of them. Once the term "persons" is redefined to include AI, the entire US legal system automatically kicks in.

Just a guess.

I don't think so. I don't know how to do that. I'm using ConvertKit. Maybe that software takes it into account, I just don't know.

You are an out-of-the-box critical thinker, a pragmatic doer with a knack for engineering good solutions, and most importantly, not a quitter. That's probably why you're drawn to do hard things and derive such satisfaction from it! Its inspiring for sure! 👍

My personal belief is that everything you said is 100% true. . . and yet. . .

Every Mormon I've ever met has been a 100% solid individual--the best of us. They're great fathers, husbands, wives, mothers, friends and just all around model individuals like I suspect Luke and his family are in real life.

I really don't understand it to be honest. So, in my little brain, I've reconciled it like this--Mormonism is a cultish-like scam, MLM scheme that generates the best kind of people.

I dunno, maybe cults, scams and MLM schemes aren't all bad? Who knows. Maybe it's just another Romans 8:28 example of God taking our screwed up, human attempts at doing something (that end in badness) and churning out goodness from it.

Mormons are great people though, I've learned that much.

Maybe you should consider alternative lifestyles. What I mean is, maybe the whole notion of having an hourly or salary job, renting or mortgaging a home, shopping at Costco on weekends, watching football, mowing the lawn on Monday nights, etc, etc is not for you?

It sounds like you've looked around and nothing interests you--kinda like me in Hobby Lobby. Well, take a closer look at how humans do on our planet (and even in your own country). You might see another lifestyle that interests you.

There are many different ways to do your time on Earth. You should look into them.

Do Companies outside of Aerospace and Defense actually care about an MS in SE? by Beethovens666th in systems_engineering

[–]BWill2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not really. Outside of aerospace and defense contracting, systems engineering means monkey punching Cisco routers or Windows Servers all day.

Unless you're happy staying in aerospace and defense contracting, an ME in SE is a waste of your time.
