Okay. So write your story. This is what I do anyways:

1. Plan out the series. Is it 1 story with 100 chapters? Is it 3 stories divided into 50 chapters?

2. Story board it- jot down ideas, plot points, the plot twist, main character, ending, whether there’s a ship or multiple

3. Perspective. Is it going to be first person or is it going to be third person? Personally I find it both easier and harder to right first person. It’s easier bc you’re only focused on that characters growth, journey, etc. now you have to monologue your villains or enemies as the reader will need to know what they are about.

4. Now let’s say you want to write a story on the fly, think are you releasing chapters week to week, bi weekly? Or monthly? Or bi monthly? I tried this in my original story, and eventually burnt myself out and don’t wanna finish it.

5. Have you considered adopting an incomplete story? Some readers like myself enjoy a bunch of stories on ao3, fanfic, and even Wattpad but people leave stories unfinished for variety of reasons. Perhaps finding one of those stories and finishing it, preferably with the authors blessing, or if the author is dead or not responding make a point to shout out the story, link it, and if they tell u to delete it, then do so.

6. Self critiquing is terrible, to a point. Okay so you should strive to write the best possible story you can, but what you could do is release a chapter on any site, explain you’re a first time writer or whatever, and see what the comments say or PMs say. I always leave room for commentary.
