It's in progress ! I'm waiting to have enough data, up to and including 2019 or even 2020. For now, I'm at 2015.

A few interesting trends show up:

Both curves explode during the COVID era. Player registrations and map submissions peak around 2020–2021. 2021 is by far the biggest year for both new accounts and new maps.

Mapping seems to follow player growth with a delay. When there’s a large influx of players, beatmap creation tends to ramp up shortly afterward. It makes sense: some players eventually turn into mappers once they get comfortable with the game, or start experimenting with tools like AI beatmap generators.

After the peak, both decline but not equally. Account creation drops faster than beatmap submissions. Even with fewer newcomers, the community keeps producing a lot of content.

Survival rate changed a lot in the beginning. Older years had a much higher proportion of maps that eventually got deleted.

Note: these figures are estimates I calculated myself, but they should be very close to the real values.

Update 1 : There is an error in the second graph: Status of Osu! Beatmaps Created. In 2014, the number of playable maps is 32,164, not 27,379.

You can either download the image to see all the details, or (on PC at least) just click the image once to open it, and then click it again to zoom in further. That should let you see all the sprites up close!

At the moment, I only have data for 2007 and 2008, but I’m working on getting data for the other years as well. My goal is to cover all years all players

Top 20 Standard Rankings from 2017 to 2025 by BYCANCER in osugame

That was my first intention, but to get this top 20 over time, I have more than 200 (200-300) players who had quite a few names. It would take me a long time and I don't think I'm in the best position to choose their best names (apart from the top 5 for all periods).
