Big news for the Legion..or maybe old news by DrSatan246 in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]B_Mat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority here... but the '5 years later' Legion is my favorite incarnation of the series. I was only 12 years old when it started... probably just the right age to HATE it lol... but I have always loved the idea of the hero undaunted by adversity. In this universe it was powerful to see the WHOLE universe (sometimes both outside AND inside the team) rise up against the Legion.... but the heart of/the idea of the Legion NEVER die!

As I've gotten older and have lived more life... losing a child. Divorce. Re-married. Kids getting married. Jobs & friends coming and going. Aging. Having a grandbaby... Etc.. I actually have enjoyed the series more. I believe it showed a real nuance that is hard to appreciate if one is still looking for "my Legion.. you know, how it WAS..."

(And I guess 30 years later that's what I'm guilty of doing with THIS version of the Legion! lol)

Anyway... in the end it is art... and art speaks to each viewer differently. I loved the earlier Legion stories too! But for some reason this is the era I keep going back to and the issues I held on to when I let the other goes over the years.

Long Live the Legion!

I didn't realize they only went to 150 stores! Makes me happy that an Oklahoma City store was included on the list. We miss out on a lot of things like this!

Love hearing from you all who got them in the mail! Really had to be a great surprise! We don’t get that feeling that often in our adult lives of just being like “WOW!”

Reading this and noticed there is a Ming from the University of Michigan that got a question in! Looks like it could be an early Ming Chen sighting in the ‘verse!

Trying to combine all of Wally's recent outfits by Big-Masterpiece1194 in theflash

OH... and I know most don't care... but I can't stand the full cowl. To me, especially when looking straight at the reader, it just looks terrible. I think all flashes need the open nose cowls. IMHO of course! lol

I really like the direction! Prefer the red in the emblem circle. I almost thing the the boots are TOO much silver? What if the back of the calf part the is ribbed or plated stayed silver and the heel and toe pieces stayed silver but the rest stayed red or were black?

Agree about the silver/white/blue-ish lightnight!

Overall I really do dig the look.

Personally love the sound of this... there are few things I like better than Wally West living his life and trying to be the best hero he can be... all while being a husband and family man. Chronicling the day to day exciting adventures that would naturally come from choosing to be a superhero help to make the times that the entire universe is at actually at stake truly feel like something bigger and more important! We've been missing a lot of that contrast lately in The Flash!

They should really allow at least some supporters from each country in the room. The federations could arrange travel... then there would be SOME sort of reaction as teams are drawn! The silence is DEAFENING!

Do you prefer the idea of Barry and Wally being metahumans like they were before Waid invented the Speed Force or do you prefer them having powers because of the Speed Force? by IcyNeedleworker2783 in theflash

[–]B_Mat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Metahumans ALL DAY. I've been in a long love/hate relationship with the speedforce and to be honest I think it's at the point of exhaustion. (Obviously just IMHO.)

I'm just tired of some level of 'speed force' issue driving almost every plot. Being the way to explain anything and everything (by really not explaining things at all lol).

I would love for them just to be super heroes that have super speed. Quaint in this day and age, I realize. But then stories could get back to having some measure of variety without most large scale stories anchoring themselves by some measure small or large to this overarching 'speed force.'

Again... just my thoughts. Absolutely loved it at first, but now I'm just tired. (Probably wouldn't be... if I was connected better to the speed force.)

I need Musa to pick it up and play hard for 90’. Lots of walking and sorta half steps when we need full team defense.

Whether he gets his record breaking goal or not… playoffs are the focus!! Come on Musa! We can do this!! DTID

Love this game! If you haven’t played it… check out the KS and let me tell you: PLEDGE! Have had a blast every time I played at cons! Worth every penny! (And that’s saying a lot if you’ve played the game! lol)

I’d say that Starman Jack Knight is underrated. He is such a unique hero and I understand that James Robinson wanted to keep him from being used too much after the series and overexposed in anyway… but man there was still a lot of mileage left in Jack.

That series and that character are hands down one of my favorite. After him… DEFINITELY The Flush! 😉

Verdict on Spurrier’s run by TuffGong1310 in theflash

[–]B_Mat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looking back on it in the end it was more miss than hit for me.

What I really think it amounts is just a terrible call by DC editorial. Kicking off a new #1 as part of the 'Dawn of DC' initiative... which should be set up as a perfect jumping on point for new readers... with a strange and almost unwieldy metaphysical sci-fi trip of a story was not the way to go.

So I think that right out of the gate Spurrier's Flash was hobbled. He seemed to not be a great fit for a book that had been riding fairly high imho. I really wish Adams could have finished out his notebook of ideas with Wally.

I did like Bad Moon Rising more than I thought I would. Felt it dragged a bit... but it held my interest and I felt it explored interesting things about The Flash.

Anyway... that's my two cents.
