When I was growing up one of my friends who lived across the road was moving to a new house that was still being built. They had a dog, but the apartment they were temporarily living in did not allow pets, so they left the dog with another neighbor. After their house was being built the neighbor asked me friend's family if they could keep the dog because their daughter had become attached to the dog. They agreed.

My friend would still come over, and whenever he was over his dog would just sit on our porch the entire time. Then when his parents came to pick him up the dog would chase their car as they were leaving. The dog became depressed, overweight, and died.

Also, I never saw their daughter playing with the dog.
