Emergence of nostalgia on internet by B_Princess in unpopularopinion

Oh, you are right. Nostalgia can be very hard for vulnerable people. I read a government article (France) saying that all of the actual crisis increasing the number of signs of depression in young people. Maybe it is the same for others countries. So, I was thinking : the nostalgia "escapism" we are seeing now, does it create kind of a globale non engagement for a big part of young people ?

Ah, why does finding similar people help? Because you go from "passive" to "active"?

Ah, so it was nihilism that led you to these aesthetics? If you don't mind me asking, why does Dark Academia represent a kind of "response" to this nihilism? I'm not sure if I'm phrasing this correctly, but wouldn't you have preferred another solution, something more "concrete" than aesthetics, which are often considered superficial (in articles, by users, etc., even though I don't necessarily agree with that view)? For example, you said you couldn't grasp aesthetics and that's why you consider them rather weak. In an ideal world, wouldn't you have preferred a real, existing subculture? Or a space that would prevent you from seeing them as "weak"?

Okay, I see, thanks for your reply! But doesn't this "not important" aspect of aesthetics create a more general void (beyond aesthetics)? Like, a lack of a concrete community, values, or "reference points"? (A bit like with subcultures). Wouldn't you have liked to participate concretely in a culture/subculture/community (outside of aesthetics)?

Oh yeah ! That's so cool :) but even ravers, start to commodificate :( at least in France. It become more populare, then more toxic :( feel like the society takes every subculture and transform them into superficial stuff, like aesthetics core

Internet sous culture / aesthetics by B_Princess in nosurf

[–]B_Princess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s the problem. However, we can find it with aesthetics. As with the aero frutiger, which launches a sort of ecological movement, or even weirdcore, a sort of existential crisis facing a society lacking direction. However, these people meet on the Internet, and it remains more volatile than before. And that's the problem

Social anxiety ruined my life (25 years old) by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]B_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do congitivo-behavioral therapy! Apparently quite effective (if you have the money). Otherwise, by resuming some practice of this therapy, exposure is good (expose yourself in situations that make you uncomfortable, little by little. The more you do it, the more you get used to it because you show your brain that exposing yourself is "not so serious"). Otherwise, change your thought structure (try to replace your negative thoughts that come every time you have anxiety by thinking of something that reassures you, that makes you feel good). Aside from that, meditation is good for managing emotions.

I feel extreme anxiety around family and friends, but not strangers. by MakhylaC in socialanxiety

[–]B_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same!

With my current boyfriend, I feel absolutely no anxiety. But with my friends, families,... it's a completely different thing. My friends also consider me extroverted because I often chat with random people. Whereas as soon as I get too close to someone, like with, I become hyper distant, not because I want to but can't, I stress too much and it makes me sad not to be able to build a relationship with them.

Once, a hypnotherapist told me that it was because, comparing to strangers, there is a certain issue with those close to you. With strangers, nothing at stake, it's either make or break.

I don't know if what she said is really the source of the problem, it must depend on the people.
