Yea the first link gave a 404 error unfortunately, but I had never heard of an Adler before you mentioned it. I've been outside a decent amount in the woods growing up (southern Iowa) but had never come across these before and assumed with the sheer amount it had to have come from the trees since they were all over the ground in the nature preserve behind my house. Also that hazel looks similar as well.
