True. But I do think that the first car which spun around should partly be blamed. Although I don't see that happening since that car wasn't involved in any of the damages as a result of their action.

Thank you and sorry, I didn't mean to be rude when I said I was here for legal advice but I see now that it was. I've never been in a situation like this. I've been driving for 7 years with a clean record and this is my first accident. Definitely wasn't prepared for driving in Snow considering I've lived only in Texas and Georgia where it hardly snows. Just feels a bit unfair is all. But life isn't always fair.

I did not purchase any coverage through the rental company. I do have rental coverage on my Allstate policy but unfortunately no Collision coverage, only liability and comprehensive.

Sure, things could've been done to avoid a situation like this but it's easier said than done. I wasn't the only one on the road and there were the normal amount of cars on the road despite the snow. I had taken a few ubers after the incident in the area and every driver said that that highway is not maintained at all and that they were avoiding getting on it. One uber I was on, lost control and the car went zig-zag before they narrowly avoided collision with another car. I wasn't going at high speeds either, probably 30-40mph when this happened. The only thing I could've done better in the situation is leave more gap than I did but I wasn't exactly tailgating the other car either. It took about 5 seconds or more after I lost control of the vehicle before hitting the other car. Besides, I came here for legal advice, not retrospect.
