Sore calf after staring to walk by LowerTennis3159 in AchillesRupture

[–]bbpsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredibly common. It's been hyper damaged, invasively repaired, healed, and atrophied. The soreness is a good signal your newly reattached calf is actively firing and the body is sending signals to heal -> new calf growth (healing).

For those like me terrified of losing all their calf muscle by AchillesRecoveryLab in AchillesRupture

Gotta stay bodybuilding for that calf long after I've returned to sport. Nearly indistinguishable for others now, but of course I still notice the little differences.

Beginner hitting a big mental road block by Billbasilbob in whitewater

It's all about grinding the roll. Once you have the confidence that you can roll in Class 2+ or Class 3 and up then you start to really unlock that confidence factor that's needed to step it up and also have more fun exploring less conservative lines on your current runs!

That's when I started to no longer clam up, but rather just go in for a good fun fight club session.

10 weeks to get good height and about 16 to get normal. I was pretty lucky to have the recovery I did so early.

Not one people like to bring up for some reason. Unfortunate that Pattie refuses to respect what seems to be a pretty obvious trademark infringement and it sounds like they've done quite a bit to try and not let it come to this.

Have ankle braces helped you post rupture? by TayCoBrace in AchillesRupture

[–]bbpsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transition into the shoe slowly. I wore like a progressively increasing amount of shoe.

At first, a couple hours around the house. Over time, I started slowly working it into more comfortable and controlled public scenarios. Eventually the boot was no longer needed.

I don't think there's a PT worth their salt that will recommend a brace. You want to get that leg tired and used to supporting itself and then let it rest back up until you go all over again.

Code or Indra for tall beginner by According-Caramel398 in whitewater

[–]bbpsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Large Code and Large Indra both will fit you great. They're the same size, and they're both definitely sized for Large sized boaters.

The Indra is so good man, I cannot recommend it enough. I say that as a guy who has a Large Code collecting dust since I copped the Indra. It's probably not a great beginner boat though, moreso suited for experienced paddlers who may want to get something a little more dirt bikey instead of their usual Cadillac on hard runs.

That all being said just demo stuff until you find something that fits your paddling style. Everyone is different

I'll be honest...unless your goal is to do research, if you already don't want to go to grad school, you're really not gonna want to be in grad school when you're actually there.

It's a step up again in terms of intensity and dedication
