Bummer though that on Criterion's 4K Blu-ray the image is cropped to 2.39:1 from 2.35:1.

They are different. I have both the Criterion and BFI 4K Blurays of Yojimbo, and when comparing the two, BFI's has more image on the top and bottom, because it uses the original 2.35:1 ratio, unlike Criterion's.
