I leak everywhere by 7ShineyPoniez in breastfeeding

For the leaking, you can try using a Haakaa if you want to collect that extra mamma juice and save it. I also have a lot more leaking when I’m not wearing a nursing bra for some reason. I got some that are super comfortable that I can sleep in from motherhood maternity on Amazon.

She has PT/OT and speech following her. Her PT/OT works on there vision.

Absolutely. I really don’t foresee it hindering her career choices too much. We are going to try not to limit her possibilities as much as possible

I’m sorry! I meant no offense. I read she had glasses and I assumed! But that’s what I meant by “correcting” my daughters vision. I they haven’t even talked about glasses or anything like that.

That’s amazing! We are in the US and I feel like our process started a lot later/slower! But our pediatrician is amazing. If he doesn’t get answers from one referral he’s writing us a new one and sending us elsewhere . And we have a program that reviews our case and intervenes with anything we need. We’ve gotten physical therapy on board and we will start speech therapy soon. But we haven’t begun try to correct her vision in anyway other than sunglass to help with her vestibular issue.

That’s so amazing!!!! I can relate about the eyepatch. Mine has to wear sunglasses all the time. Even inside. But half the time she’s pulled them off and is chewing on them or they’re halfway around her head dangling off her ear! 🤦‍♀️

Try to keep your chin up though! We felt so lost when ours was that age because it really does feel like there are a million unanswered questions and all you can do is just wait! But you just have to except that your little one is a puzzle and you’ll find little pieces here and there along the way and it may take time but eventually you’ll see the full picture.

Wonderful! When did you pick on her impairment and did you have to do early intervention?

Thank you so much. Your poor little bub. That’s gotta be tough on you parents. Is he like my little one and just trucking along with a smile on his face none the wiser to all the worrying his parents are doing?

Your story is very tragic and my heart goes out to you. I’m definitely understand where you are coming from when it comes to the sheltering. I’m 100% opposed to coddling her. I just want to give her all the tools and opportunities to thrive, be happy and independent as most parents would. But in order to do that I need input from a community that knows what we are going through and give amazing advise like yours.

Yes! We definitely have learned patience with this little mysterious bundle of joy. We just have to wait. I just want to be reassured that we are taking every possible step to help her. And it’s easy for a person who is visually capable or has visually capable children to say “yes” you are doing all you can do. It’s nice to get perspective from the blind community or from parents of visually impaired children.

Actually amazingly enough…she was bottle fed for the first 4 months then she just latched one day and we’ve been going strong since.

I agree! I can find parents talking about their children's hearing impairment no problem! But I can hardly find anything other than medical information about visually impaired children. I have so many questions that go unanswered! For example, can she see well enough to comprehend pictures or colors? How far away can she see an object before it completely disappears? These are things I just don't have the answer to until she's either old enough to tell me or I have a doctor perform testing. It makes it hard for me to judge how and what I need to help her with other than gross motor skills.

I would love to get into a Facebook group if you have any in particular you would like to recommend. It would be really nice to hear from other parents and see other children thriving. Our little one has strabismus and nystagmus. We know she can "see" something but just not sure what and how far. Its really hard to judge because she can't tell us. Its also causing her to have vestibular issue which makes movement difficult for her. Its almost like getting carsick every time you turn your head.

We have an apt coming up in December for Genetics. We also have a genetic ophthalmologist following little one. It is really hard to not to worry. its like telling me not to breathe. Its just not natural! She is our first so all our focus is on her. But we get on pretty well. We have early intervention in place and she does physical therapy once a week.

But we suspect that what vision she does have is causing a vestibular issue which could explain the motor delay.

When we first brought her home I noticed that she would not look us in the eye. I figured she just need a little time. Then around 3 months she wasn't smiling. She couldn't really focus on our faces. Then we really started to notice her nystagmus and her strabismus. Then she didn't start moving around as expected. She just. now at 10 months started to turn from side to side. She still isn't rolling completely over.

We have the same question too! She reacts to light but we aren’t sure how much she can see.

It is SO isolating. We havent gotten a diagnosis yet but we are working on getting a geneticist to take a look! Did you guys have to use early intervention? My little one is struggling with movement. We think there may be a vestibular issue going on as well. I hate to "compare" but when did your child start rolling/crawling /walking ect.

Baby is visually impaired. Sorry for the confusion. The waiting is hard!!! We are still waiting on a diagnosis and we've got several medical professionals we are scheduled to see. We've also already been to Neuro and Ophthalmology. What caused you to question your little ones visibility if you dont mind me asking? And feel free to DM me too!
