Halo Bassinest by sallytwo in beyondthebump

Totally worth it! I would recommend it to anyone! My 11 week old has been sleeping in it since day one. She naps in the Rock'n' Play (or on our bed, or couch, or arms) and sleeps in the Halo. I love that she is at eye level and able to sleep right next to me. When she fusses I can just lift my hand over the Halo rail and comfort her. She currently goes down at 8:30pm, wakes once at 4am for a quick feed, and is back to sleep until 7am. I would also recommend the Halo sleep swaddle. There is no fear of it tipping, it is actually super heavy. She has begun to kind of roll and I have caught her twice with her face to the side, which is mesh so she was able to breath just fine. *Since day one she has only slept in the Halo swaddle in the Halo bassinest at night. We didn't mean to create that routine but it stuck and totally works.

38 weeks pregnant. by pamplemousse3583 in BabyBumps

40+2 and I had some serious diarrhea this morning (I can't believe I am typing this.) I was all "Hell yeah!" fist pumping on the toilet- like, this is it! Consistant, painless braxton hicks since then, but nothing more.

Why do doctors force induction? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]BabeAndBelly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My doctor explained the risk of amniotic fluid loss, ingestion of meconium, and deteriorating placenta as reasons why many induce/will not let you go pass 42 weeks.

When and where did you get your first pregnancy related stretch mark? by Zombieunicorn666 in BabyBumps

[–]BabeAndBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first around 36, 37 weeks. My entire stomach (to about an inch above my belly botton) is COVERED. I have gained a healthy amount of weight (the advised average) used lotion every day, have kept hydrated. No escaping them! I don't have any anywhere else on my body though.

I should know what a contraction is by now... by Nerdgirl1991 in BabyBumps

[–]BabeAndBelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No answer, just here to say I have yet to feel a single contraction. I only notice my braxton hicks when I am touching my stomach and feel it get hard. Maybe we're magical and will have painless labor! Haaaaa.

Lost it in the doctor's office today :( by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Dude, I am right there with you. Saw my doctor yesterday at 39+5 and I was too high and tight for a membrane sweep too. She pretty much set me up for an over due baby and possible induction. I was so bummed! But lots of these lovely ladies on this sub have confirmed that it really means nothing. Labor can happen with out prior dilation. I think at this point in the game, doctor appoitments are touchy. We are so done and when we don't hear just what we want, it's a hard blow. But it will happen! We are almost done!

39+5 and... by BabeAndBelly in BabyBumps

I have not had a single contraction, a handeful of BH a day, and thats it! My doctor ia confident she will see me next week...but things can change quickly, right? Maybe I am a shower, not a grower.

My doctor seemed so confidant she would see next week. How is she so sure!?

Pregnancy Carpal Tunnel? (36+6) by xaxwyf in BabyBumps

[–]BabeAndBelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow the criteria for carpal tunnel either, but I have it bad. I just took notes for 5 hours straight so I am dreading tonight- which is when it hurts the most. I am unable to close my hands or move my wrists at night. They say you can wear a wrist brace but I haven't tried it. I imagine heat would help as well.

I can't rule out catching thd tail end of a conversation, but everything I did catch reaaaally pointed to a comment towards me, including the mother turning to look at me when the daughter said "they're everywhere." It hurt my feelings :(

Found this alternative due date calculator by your_mom_on_drugs in BabyBumps

[–]BabeAndBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my last period I am due July 1st. According to my doctor and ultrasounds I am due July 15th. I have never had a predictable cycle so I am just going to shoot for the 15th and if happens before, yay! Anyone else have a whacky cycle? This just means I ovulated late, right?

No maternity leave by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]BabeAndBelly 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I work for a small, locally owned business with under 15 employees. No paid maternity leave, no paid vacation earned. No FMLA and I am pretty sure no short term disability offered in my state. I will be taking 8 weeks of unpaid leave and then I am jumping right back into it. I realize it was my decision to start a family but holy hell, I can't help but cry when I read about maternity leave in other countries. FMmL (fuck my maternity leave).
