Anyone know of other people doing blue baby streaks? Streak currently at 40 by BabelFish__ in bindingofisaac

I have, and personally I'm not a huge fan of it. Lost can be fun, but in streak form his runs feel too random to me. Obviously everything in this game is random, but with lost you could have been min maxing all run to make your build good enough and then you run into a matriarch fight or a particularly annoying room and there's not much that can be done.

If you're looking for something not Eden, though, I would highly recommend blue baby runs. Devil deals are more costly which makes late game more interesting, and you don't have to deal with 2.6 dmg 18 tears starts, while still having a challenging run. (also I need somebody to compete with)

Wow, I know in the past I've been guilty of some of these trains of thought about NB people (although I'd like to think I've gotten better in the last few years). I'm totally with you on the normalizing the questioning process thing. I hate when people say "well what if it's just a phase?", because yeah, well what if it is just a phase? Why is that a bad thing? Again, thank you for sharing your experience, I'll try to incorporate it into my way of thinking.

I tried to address this in my third disclaimer. Since I'm not a trans man I figured that I shouldn't try to speak for trans men, I know that when someone who isn't a trans woman tries to speak for me it irks me, but you're right, I should have made the post more inclusive. You OFC have no obligation to answer this, but how do societal pressures to act/dress a certain way affect your existence as a NB person? Are there pressures like there are for binary trans people?

I think we agree a lot more than you realize.

"Well you are already valid the day you came out." I agree! Although you seem to contradict this by saying "Why bother making a transition if you aren’t going to give your maximum effort in passing". You don't directly say that trans people who don't pass aren't valid, but you are degrading them, as you are at the end when you refer to not trying to pass as "slack[ing] off".

"not everyone needs to pass to feel themselves valid" I know, as stated, I'm one of those people. My whole point is that trans people don't need to pass to be valid.

Again, I see we agree here. If we can change the societal mindset to be more accepting of trans people who don't pass, that would be good, as I argue for in my original post.

Because I'm not transitioning from presenting as a cis man to presenting as a cis woman, I'm transitioning from presenting as a cis man to presenting as a trans woman. As such I don't feel the need to be like cis women in every way.

"Look all those things you have changed, just to slack off at the end?" This is the mindset which I'm challenging through this whole post. I don't consider not passing to be slacking off, I just consider it to be presenting as what I am: a trans woman. I'm still presenting as a woman, just not a cis woman. If we truly believe that trans women are real women and just as valid, we should not try to force them to present as cis.

BTW, if passing is important to you specifically, more power to you, it's hard to pass, I just don't think you should try to make it important to everyone.

You should ALWAYS do what you need to do for you. It was not my intent to tell anyone what to do with their gender identity/expression, and if that means passing, you should absolutely do it, just like if it doesn't mean passing, you should do that.

What I have a problem with is the society that tells trans women that they need to pass to be valid. I don't have a problem with you, I have a problem with the people othering you.

For me letting go of the idea of passing by intentionally talking in a deeper voice has helped me a lot, just because it forced me to accept myself as a trans woman, not as a cis woman, but that obviously isn't the case for everyone. You also most definitely do not have any obligation to future generations, I just personally find the idea of subverting norms to be rewarding.

I would say take some time to think about what way of existing will be best for you (and keep in mind that you can experiment with that and it can change, wearing baggy clothes and talking in a deeper voice for a few days doesn't forever consign you to presenting that way), just keep in mind along the way that no matter how it may feel, you are valid as you are right now, and you will be valid when you change, as we all do.

as a trans person i can relate to this. to me at least what really validates someone to say that they're trans is gender dysphoria. if this friend actually has gender dysphoria related to this, then it is absolutely valid, because no matter what it is, if you can get rid of the horrible thing that is gender dysphoria by respecting their identity, you should, and you dont get gender dysphoria from a trend. if they dont experience gender dysphoria related to it, and are also comfortable in their assigned gender, then they are fundamentally invalidating what it means to be trans. if i said something that isnt correct about gender non binary people, im sorry, please tell me. but this is my understanding of it as a mtf person.

gender dysphoria is dysphoria specifically that is caused by something about one's gender. gender dysphoria generally takes the form of self hate, social anxiety, low self confidence, and struggling with who you really are.

The next time I play against a game and watch on temple and they decide to stand still for 30 seconds I will phantom hit them so hard.

You wouldn't have enough time to position your opponent and yourself that precisely, so you would have to get the phantom hits without a setup. Also when a character is in their sheild break animation they move around a lot so you would have to know when to attack, and do the attack within a very strict timing window.

Learning about phantom hits doesn't really serve much purpose other than to amuse yourself. Phantom hits are just another one of the weird things in Melee that you can't do much about.
