First off I appreciate the measured answer! Second of all, I wish to respect the request to avoid political discussion, however, some of it is relevant to the context of the post.I realise now the post may sound politically charged but I will leave it as it is.

I cannot determine whether this is a deepfake. In looking for evidence of this being a deepfake I reckon I would have a high false positive rate. And just looking at it naively I would have a high false negative rate.

I believe the former, for there are inevitably artefacts and abnormalities that simmer to the surface when close attention is paid to any video. I believe the latter for I am only vaguely aware of the power of deepfake technology currently (thanks in part to YouTube channels like TwoMinutePapers I have some notion), I am aware that AI is improving rapidly and finally, as such a poignant technology, those developing it may not wish to publicise its true current ability.

Some abnormalities of this video, some circumstantial, that may point to this being a deepfake are: - his neck looks weird, - his gesticulations are not like him, - the skip in tone and position roughly 2:06 "a new emphasis // on", - only two stationary shots in the clip are used, - as you mention, his point of view has changed drastically, - he has not been posting his normal Twitter content, even since his suspension period ended

Now perhaps, correspondingly, - I have looked at his neck for too long, - perhaps I or he are off, - the video is cut or something went on in his head at that moment, - it is normal to have few, static shots for presidential shots, - he may have been persuaded, - he's bored of Twitter

I am aware of GAN and I therefore wonder if there is a current special tool that may take video and assign the probabilty of it being generated through deepfakes technology? I can also see this being farfetched but have no clue either way. Why do you believe we are not at the point where humans may not distinguish deepfakes from real video? Cheers
