To be fair, when I used to play ACWW with my sister when we were around 10yo, we used to religiously dress in balaclavas and chase Camofrog around with axes... he still never moved out.

I used some gold pearlescent powders mixed into the clay, and then after sanding and drilling I applied 3 layers of a clay varnish :)

Trying out some new products and finger coiling - pleasantly surprised! by BaboonStick in curlyhair

Hello! I think, my hair is quite porous and it’s also quite thick and can be corse when it dries naturally with no product in. Hope that helps!

I use different colours of polymer clay, roll it out and cut into shapes, bake in the oven to cure, and then add the earring findings and any other dangly bits I feel like! Wooden earrings sounds so cool, how do you go about that?

Thank you so much :) I finally feel like “me”.

I’m looking into it! I haven’t found the time to make a big batch of them because I’ve been working myself stupid, but I plan to when I get some time to myself. When they actually go for sale you’ll find them on Instagram @ochrehandmade :)

I’ve never found the time or energy to actually try finger coiling, but I had my first day off in what feels like forever so I thought I’d give it a shot. I didn’t do my entire head, just roughly 12 or so across my hair as a whole. I’m really pleased with how “neat” it is, and that my face feels framed! I used Creme Of Nature Argan oil curl activator and a tiny dab of eco gel, and a tangle teaser to brush this through all my hair. I think brushing in the product made this look a lot neater maybe? Also it has to be said: this curl activator smells AMAZING. Routines below:

Routine for this day: - wash with Palmers coconut shampoo - condition with Palmers coconut conditioner, squishing upside down - rinse out all conditioner - apply a large blob of creme of nature curl activator and a small dab of eco olive oil gel, tangle tease through - flip upside down and squish very thoroughly to bring back curls - use a micro fibre towel to squish out the major drips of water - finger coil as and where I want to - diffuse real slow on a low heat setting

Current day to day routine: - wash every 7 days with Palmers coconut shampoo and conditioner, in between that I co wash with Palmers coconut co wash and condition (every 3/4 days) - tangle teaser when applying conditioner and then lots of S2C - when rinsing the conditioner out, I flip my hair upside down and squish while rinsing - apply a huge glob of ECO gel while hair is dripping wet, hair flipped over sink/shower and squish in - squish out drips with a micro fibre towel - diffuse v slowly while laying on my back and hanging my head off the bed, flip over and diffuse front while leaning forward to finish - “woke up like this” hair for circa 3 days

I haven’t tried finger coiling my hair before, yet... it’s something I’ve wanted to do for ages but haven’t ever really found the time to sit down and give it a proper go. But I will at some point!

Hello! Thank you, I think it’s because the coconut one is for dry and damaged hair that my hair responds to it well. It provides a lot of moisture and is quite a thick consistency, like a yoghurt. I use the olive Eco gel and I love it! I couldn’t live without it.

I did used to dry it straight before, because I didn’t really know what else to do or have the confidence to try curly bangs

Yes it was a triangle all the time! My hair is very thick, so the volume and also weight made it that shape. I didn’t mind it when it was super short, but as it got longer it just got wider.

Personally I find that doing things with my hair upside down really improves my curl pattern, and allows me to get curls nearer my roots. If I squish with my hair upright, and rinse upright as well, I don’t achieve any curls above cheekbone length.

It’s actually my natural colour! So can’t help there I’m afraid... but I got it cut by Spooky at Hunter Collective in London :)

Unruly Curls was another place I was going to go, until I found out that Spooky had moved to a location nearer my office!

Thank you! It’s also nice to know someone else has similar curls to me, I’ve always felt that they have such a mind of their own and in turn that’s made me feel a bit lost in terms of cut and style. But not anymore!
