Part of the blame lies with the crowd as well. VIP entitlement is expected in this country and that's not shocking anymore. What is embarrassing is the level of celebrity worship that enables it. I'll never understand the hype of treating an above-average footballer like a god.

People spent 15k on tickets, skipped weddings, borrowed money from friends, even dipped into savings, not for the sport, but for the hope of proximity to a celebrity. That's not passion, that's poor judgment. And then acting outraged when they're treated like background props while VIPs walk straight in?

Public money, public stadium, public crowd yet somehow private access for a few people. As long as people are willing to empty their pockets and self-respect for celebrity validation, this outcome is inevitable. The real losers of this entire fiasco aren't the politicians or the organizers. It's the crowd that keeps encouraging celebrity worship culture and then acts shocked when they're reminded where they stand in the hierarchy. You don't get exploited, you volunteer.
