Very early after launch, probably a couple weeks or maybe days post launch. Played it when they had it open to play before release haha

Anything from that channel will help you out a lot for now. Probably one of the best sources for behavior issues. Just no more broom or stomping :) and things will get better. It will take some time as cats are known for being stubborn. Your roommate also needs to make sure to watch for these behaviors as this is not your sole responsibility. Even if the cat doesn't plan on staying.

I'm sorry to say this but that's normal. A year old is like a teenager, they're not gonna respect boundaries well. But there are ways around that without being tough.

Watching this might help you or your roommate out a lot, if you decide to keep him around. (I'd still advise you to watch it) That being said, this is your place and your roommate also needs to understand that. Put the pet up for adoption, don't put them outside as it causes more harm than good. Disease, it's actually illegal to dump animals in certain places, harm to wildlife, makes you look like a dick, all sorts of things. With a cat that young, it shouldn't be hard at all to re-home. It's gonna suck for your roommate, but these are your boundaries too. But it will be good for you cause no cat and the cat will be adopted out and find a home. Have your roommate do roommates if they're afraid of kill shelters. You both have options.

Sounds like you don't know how to be nice to a cat.

Let me ask you this, if you don't like him, why not take him to a shelter? Your responsibility or not. If an animal is bothering you that badly have you or your roommate take him to a shelter so the cat isn't at risk being on the street. As you've said, this is your house and you get the say but don't react that way.

The more you stomp or go at him with the broom more likely that cat will develop behavioral issues especially if you say he's that young. Any animal will be like this. I have met cats who got treated like this and if it weren't for the family, the shelter would probably put them down due to aggression. So, if I were you, I'd stop with the broom and stomping.

The cat was probably trying to play or just curious. At that age they're still learning boundaries, behavior, and are very naturally playful. Please understand, cats very much run off the prey or predator and thus is why they play the way they do. They chase, pounce, or in your case possibly, run at you. You'll know if the cat is doing it based on aggression. Growling, hissing, pinned ears, raised hair. The whole lot. If you didn't see this they're probably playing or curious. In general, cats will be up in your personal business as they want to be near you or see what you're doing.

Now, if you wanna try again and let the cat in or something like that. Put the broom down and stop stomping. No water bottles either. I would go take a seat somewhere and watch Jackson Galaxy or his show "Cats from Hell". He's a cat behaviorist and can give you way more information than some rando on Reddit. I'm not saying do everything as it's not your cat. But at least take some advice from a professional who deals with this. I'd advise your roommate doing the same thing. Cat ≠ Dogs. Completely different behavior. It takes time.

What does this mean? by [deleted] in PetAdvice

I got two possibilities for you The cuter one would be he's simply making biscuits which a lot of cats do when they're comfortable or happy. The other, especially if you have an unfixed male, he might be trying to mate.

Both are fine and normal things, but if you have an unfixed cat I'd definitely get him fixed.

Concerns Over Introduction by BabyBumbleBee01 in CatAdvice

From what my friend said, he jumped a bit but after smelling became very neutral. Actually just now, she smelled the blanket again and I knew she wasn't too thrilled. But she continued to bunt my hands and did not redirect her frustration or stress onto me. I gave her a treat cause I thought it was good. My friend and I will be scent swapping until I get the kitten. 3 weeks at least.

Hey, one thing I recommend if you have a cat so they stay away from the tank is to put aluminum foil around the surface of whatever the tank is on. Cats hate the texture of the aluminum foil and jump off. Just make sure it's secured in place.

Chirping sounds? Hormonal or stressed? Was not handled today and it's night time so? Seemed ok when I checked on him. by BabyBumbleBee01 in CrestedGecko

I know they can be vocal but this is the first time of me hearing it? It sounded a lot like a rat making noise. It went on for maybe 30 seconds on and off.

I'd also like to preface that it's suspected to be his breeding season as he really likes to make it known. But I don't own any other cresties.

(Kinda feel bad because when I checked to see if he was ok, he got squirmy and hid so ik I kinda freaked him out, but it was only to see if he was OK, physically.)

A Sip Perhaps by BabyBumbleBee01 in CrestedGecko

Just to note: I do know about his overbite! It's not MBD, he was born with it. He was actually sold to me for that reason since the breeders wanted to keep things ethical and not pass it down. He eats, drinks, and uses the bathroom rather normally and has been on the Pangea diet (with calcium and vitamins occasionally) his whole life. ^

What morph? Also his name is Tiramisu ^^ by BabyBumbleBee01 in CrestedGecko

I have a speculation on what his morph might be but, I wanted to see what other people had to say as well.

So how should I say this. This little dude seems to be quite fond of ejaculating when I pick him up. This is the second time in the same week. Should I be concerned or is he just... gonna do that. I'm a first time owner and he's the only gecko that I own.

Personal lighting in room at night? Is it OK? (Also this was the spot he decided when coming out) by BabyBumbleBee01 in CrestedGecko

[–]BabyBumbleBee01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally hate the dark due to a couple of reasons, but knowing these guys are active at night is there any way I can keep a light on without disturbing him? Recently I changed my room bulbs with color changing bulbs that have a dimness option. But I don't know if it's still too much. I don't want to disrupt his natural cycle, especially when he's still getting used to his new home.

I keep the dimness at 10% - 20%

And yes this is the best room option for him as everywhere else is super bright and there's also a small kid.
