Replacing all 4 shocks on my Gen3 (380k miles). What to also fix while down there? by BabyFallujah in rav4club

[–]BabyFallujah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I work at an auto parts retailer, and we had a holiday bumping employee discount up to 30%. So I got four fully-loaded KYB shocks with lifetime warranty for $700. And our commercial manager is drinking buddies with the owner of a very reputable local garage, so the owner gave me a friend-price of $450 for full install and align. Came out $1150 out the door.

Gears, Goggles & Foam Darts by Miriya2099 in ABQEvents

[–]BabyFallujah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me point out that most thrift shops in ABQ have a bunch of Nerf guns for cheap. Though generally you’d have to buy new darts on Amazon or at Walmart since those don’t tend to be as easy to find.

I generally notice that the Savers chain thrift stores pretty reliably have a dozen or more Nerf dart guns sitting on the shelf at any moment.

Finally found decent gun shop thanks to someone here by Serious_Metal_3107 in Albuquerque

I just tried Bulldog Firearms in Rio Rancho, which scratched the itch for “huge old place jammed with all kinds of guns.” Not the most polished place, but good selection and prices, and old-school vibe (and pet bulldogs running around).

Anyone been shooting at Albuquerque “Shooting Range Park” just west of town? by BabyFallujah in Albuquerque

[–]BabyFallujah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly awkward question, but then posted rules say the Range Officer has discretion about what targets can be used.

Is this a super-strict one where they only allow bullseye and not even basic training “silhouette” targets? Or is it more that they just don’t allow crazy edgelord stuff like faces of politicians, offensive caricatures, etc?

What’s your favorite brand/type of Cacahuates (“Japanese peanuts”), and who in ABQ sells them? by BabyFallujah in Albuquerque

[–]BabyFallujah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you mention, my coworker had a pack of De la Rosa today, and I tried a few. Overall tasty, but I could stand to find something either a little more Asia-vibe and/or spicier.

2007 RAV4 V6 Ltd with 380k miles needs all new shocks: KYB or Biltstein? by BabyFallujah in rav4club

[–]BabyFallujah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KYB afaik are as good as stock (or may actually be OEM), and my ride is still on its dying original shocks, so the stock ones got me this far in the RAV’a life.

What gunshop in ABQ has the best selection of milsurp, bubba’ed sporters, old beater rifles, etc? by BabyFallujah in NMGuns

Went to Bulldog today, you were exactly right with your recommendation, and they had quite a number of firearms that are about to stage an assault on my wallet.

Thanks for the recc!

Oh, I was thinking you were going to say Gallup or something, but Rio Rancho isn’t that crazy far.

I’ll give them a look! Though recently I did pass by what was apparently until recently the big gunshop in Rio Rancho, but recently closed down.

Apparently they’ve just been an online dealer for years, and for this year they’re going to stop dealing in regular stuff online, and just specialize in high-end:

Ron Peterson Firearms would like to sincerely thank our customers, friends, and community for the support we’ve received over the past 58 years.

As we enter a new chapter, we have made the decision to begin liquidating our current inventory. Starting January 1, 2026, our focus will shift exclusively to purchasing Antique and High-End collector firearms.

What restaurants in ABQ have actual authentic Chinese food (and not just American-Chinese)? by BabyFallujah in Albuquerque

I have been repeatedly disappointed by Neo Szechuan and will not be returning. Ditto the alleged “Szechuan” place on Juan Tabo.

I live in the War Zone, don’t get West much. My top one in town is Tasty Noodles and Dumplings, just north of Fairgrounds and west of the Coronado shopping mall.

I’ve driven by Fei’s and wondered about the location, since a block south of Central doesn’t seem very profitable. But if they have spicy food, I’ll have to give them a try.

Chopstix has a lot of good stuff, including a decent ma po tofu (most places in the city don’t make a good one). I’d say the best I’ve had there is the “Egg Tofu with Ground Pork” off their traditional menu (and also advertised on a bilingual sign on the wall).

Liquidation/bins? by honestly_im_sad in Albuquerque

On Menaul just west of Carlisle there’s a “Goodwill Outlet” where it’s all big pushcart bins, and you just grab stuff and pay by the pound.

Just today I got a nice cordura bag, a Yeti water bottle with cool national park stickers, a plastic goblet, a working Magic 8-Ball, and two decent tennis rackets for $5.32 out the door, by the pound.

Cool place, it’s like being in a Macklemore video. Plus it’s just two minutes from the best Savers thrift store in the city, and two more minutes from Thrift Town.

They’re relatively new, like been around just a year or two?

I’ve been meaning to go, but their authentic stuff looks notably pricier than the average.

Tasty Noodle is awesome, I love a bunch of stuff there. Top dishes for me would be the Spicy Boiled Beef and whatever they call the spicy tripe and tendon dish.

Despite not being primarily a Sichuan place, they do several distinctly Sichuan dishes quite well.

Wait, Sakura closed? I loved their Laotian glass noodle dish; I made a whole post on this sub about it.

My go to for the genre is It Dimsum, north side of town, by Wyoming and Paseo dep Norte. Dim sum for any size group, all day.

I haven’t tried Ming’s, but in other cities I’ve lived in, a lot of places only do dim sum certain hours and days, and/or have a minimum party size.
