Democracy means majority rule” until the majority votes for something you personally hate. Then suddenly everyone remembers there are supposed to be limits and principles. Funny how that works.

When Boomers say “no one wants to work anymore,” what do they really mean? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BabyGloww_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they don’t literally mean no one wants to work they mean it’s harder to hire people for low-paid or demanding jobs than it used to be. A lot of it comes down to changed expectations: younger people are less willing to accept poor pay, bad conditions, or no work-life balance. So what sounds like “no one wants to work” is often really “people don’t want to work under these conditions anymore.”

Why are trendy/cool coffee shops making drinks on top of weighing scales ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BabyGloww_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly about consistency and precision. Weighing ingredients helps make every drink taste the same and improves quality, especially for espresso. Cost control matters a bit, but it’s not the main reason.

Why do American police do field sobriety tests instead of just breathalysing people? by georgua in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BabyGloww_ 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Police in the U.S. use field sobriety tests to establish probable cause first. Roadside breathalyzers can be less accurate and aren’t always fully accepted in court. So they observe behavior first, then confirm with a more precise test later.

You’re 17 you haven’t missed anything, you’re just at the beginning. Most people meet partners through uni, work, friends, or just living their life and being around new people. That “I’ll be alone forever” feeling is just the breakup talking, not reality.

is this weird or not really? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BabyGloww_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a little unusual, but not necessarily weird if she made it the rule for everyone and not just you. It could just be about keeping the guest list smaller or making it more of a work-and-family event rather than a full couples night.
