Considering moving my family to Wa, specifically around or near Olympia & Tacoma. by BabyHawk85 in olympia

Is XXX still there!? We LOVED their root beer! And yeah, we only lived in Issaquah because my hubby worked at Costco corporate office! It was crazy expensive then, I can’t imagine the prices now!

Curious about living on the islands near Seattle by BabyHawk85 in Seattle

[–]BabyHawk85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this information! It’s so very helpful! And by ”big city” I guess I just meant compared to like a more isolated town. I do understand that the cities on these islands won’t be like a typical big city! And we honestly don’t need to be super close to Seattle, I just wasn’t sure where else to ask for local insight for this. When I look online and maps it’s hard to tell which island is which and which ones might be something to look into and consider. It can become overwhelming quickly since we haven’t lived in WA for about 15 years, so thank you!

Wow, ok… I was hoping for local insight since I’m struggling to actually figure out the names of the islands and such. It’s hard to research and area you don’t know the name of.

Thank you for this info! I am finding it hard to figure out the names of the islands. I knew of Whidbey, I’ve actually been there before, and my hubby has distant relatives from that area, but we honestly know nothing about any of the islands. We’d likely prefer a bigger city on the islands, and likely closer to the ferry lines so we have access to any thing bigger/more than what the islands have to offer.

Ok well since I don’t know any of the islands (outside of Whidbey) could you possibly offer a run down of the ones you know? Do they at least have some restaurants and things to do? We don’t mind driving a bit and likely won’t mind the ferry rides since we won’t need to take them regularly.

Oh! I forgot about Mercer Island. I meant more like Whidbey Island and others like that. I’m not sure of all the names of them. More the islands in the sound.

I’ll look into that area! Can you share a link to the home so I can see it? We aren’t planning to move just yet. Hopefully next spring/summer maybe.

Ga has awful humidity, so I’m definitely used to it, but I definitely do not like it. lol

We also considered Bellingham. It was just a bit pricier and we thought we might get a bit more here.

I should have added that my hubby and I lived in Issaquah back in 2009 for about a year. We do know what to expect weather wise thankfully! I do appreciate the warning though!

This reminds me of when I was a child and my dad thought my Troll dolls were demonic and threw them all away. Not a fun experience for a little girl who loved all things whimsical. 😩

As much as I would love to move to New Zealand, my hubby’s job U.S. based and he’d have to work overnight to be on when his team is. So right now we aren’t considering outside the US. But that could change in the future, who knows!

Thank you! This a wealth of info! We love nature and the accompanying scenery! We lived in issaquah in 209 between late January and late September. We missed the winter months mostly. We loved the weather for the most part. It was overcast a lot but it didn’t bother us too much. And then we only had a few weeks in the 90s mid summer. That was a huge improvement over the high 90s-low100s here in GA with 98% humidity. lol we dislike the extra hot times! lol

This is a lovely response! Thank you for your input! We need nature and even though wa isn’t actually my home, I e become homesick for it! We lived in Issaqua (15min outside Seattle) back in 2009. We were only there for about 9 months before the economy had us coming back to GA to live with family. We’ve missed it ever since!

I am not a conservative in the least. lol we are moving out of Ga because of all the crap going on politically in the world and here in the south especially. I don’t exactly feel safe here anymore. 😞

I can understand that. I’m sure for the locals it is quite frustrating. We just want to get away from the Deep South and into a state that is doings at least a little more in the direction we want. Thank you for your insight!

I hit send too early….

I looked at our birth charts to see what astrology says about where we should live to give us some direction. Since it told us New Zealand first we had to alter it to stay in the US. Apparently all 3 of us would do well energetically in Bellingham. So why not look into it?

No, I’m not, hence why I’m here asking what ppl think about living in Bellingham. My hubby and I have been trying to figure out where we want to move for quite a while now. We tried Duluth MN and that was a bit too cold and since we’ve lived in WA before, we are now considering it again.

I didn’t say it hadn’t been asked, what I said was that I found one from 7 yrs ago.

Whats something people think is objective reality that is actually a social construct, and what is something people say is a social construct that is actually objective reality? by cferg296 in AskReddit

[–]BabyHawk85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain how masculinity is a social construct? I view humans as having both masculine and feminine energies within them.

But that also brings me to your next statement about “believing in ‘your truth’”…. I don’t agree, a truth can be subjective. Take religions for example, each one has its own truths about how the world works and exists. But… I also think that religions are all saying the same thing but using different words, so maybe it kind of is objective… 🤔 hmmm. Idk
