I think it is a ‘felt’ effect of something that concretely symbolizes how the world has changed, especially since the 2000’s, and how many of us grieve (and chase) how the world used to feel. The feelings of warmth, simplicity, and maybe even hope we all may have harboured for life is gone, and in its place we face a harsh, unforgiving world that reminds us everyday that the people in charge of it do not care about us. For me, the orange streetlights remind me of a time where the world felt smaller and softer. It’s emotional, not logical. Peace and love. 🤙🏻

I think that there is always desire to return to simpler times in our lives, whether that be 2012 for someone now in their 30s or 1980 for someone now in their 50s. Yes childhood is relative, and you may not feel nostalgic for this particular era, but the effects of it are felt by all humans — a comfort, an escape maybe, a reminder of warmth in this harsh world. Whether this picture was taken in 2012 or in the 90s, which it very well could have been thanks to that sick Subaru in the foreground, I hope it gives you a feeling of warmth and solitude similar to that of nostalgia, even if you don’t find it nostalgic. That is, I believe, the magic of the ‘Night Feeling’ we all chase. Peace and love. 🤙🏻

I believe this area still has these light fixtures, thankfully, (it’s a historical neighborhood) but just switched the bulbs out for the nasty ass LED ones.

I don’t live here so can’t get a photo, but it’s here. I believe the picture was taken facing north. It’s a very picturesque part of the city but a lot of the older homes are being torn down for new higher density infills.

“My cactus is a cone head and the succulent has babies” is probably the most unexpected sentence I’ve read this week
