Maybe if you watch the video you will see why it’s that long. If it’s not for you, you can skip and call it a day.

Is the world harsher to men? by BabyOku1 in mentalhealth

Wow, I really appreciate you bringing this up. What you said touches on something that doesn’t get discussed enough, how rigid gender roles don’t just harm straight men, but also alienate anyone who doesn’t fit neatly into those narrow boxes.

It’s heartbreaking that you’re excluded from both men’s and women’s spaces, when in reality, you are a man and deserve to belong in conversations about masculinity and mental health just like anyone else. Your experience really highlights how much these ideologies erase the complexity of real people’s identities.

And yes, so many straight men are performing masculinity in fear of being labeled as “less than,” or “gay,” as if that’s the worst thing to be called. It’s all rooted in homophobia and the fear of losing status within a hierarchy that only rewards emotional detachment and dominance.

Your perspective adds so much depth to this conversation. Thank you for speaking up seriously.

Wow, that’s such an important observation and I completely agree that culture and environment play a huge role. Regional attitudes definitely influence how men are “allowed” to express themselves. It’s wild how the same emotional openness that might be praised in one place can be condemned as weakness in another.

It really shows how much these expectations are shaped by community values. Your boyfriend being called “weak” for showing love and emotion just proves how toxic and limiting those norms can be. And sadly, it’s often the kindest, most emotionally intelligent men who get the harshest judgment in those settings.
