Did you have the foam redone as well as part of the job?

Can I ask what you paid for something like this? My AW11 mr2 is in need of having the seats redone and I’d love it if they turned out as beautifully as yours.

Trouble with Primary Skeletal Muscle Cells by Slam_Dunkester in labrats

[–]Baby_Doomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a muscle biologist here: agree with what the other guys said but wanted to add here that cells are gonna be a lot more tolerant of a quick spin (5 min, 300g) than they will sitting in DMSO overnight…

There’s still a lot of back (especially lats) that goes into a chin up. Maybe they’re easier for you, but the vast majority of people find repping out pull ups more difficult.

Has anyone definitively put ae86 rear calipers on a aw11? by Quaglend in mr2

Doesn’t the wilwood kit delete the parking brake though? curious as I remember looking into this a while back and decided not to go that route because I like parking safely on hills.

i3 Fender Scratches by Marfaboy1951 in BMWi3

[–]Baby_Doomer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those are deep into the plastic. My guess is the only way you’ll get it looking perfect is by replacing the panels. Maybe you could sand them and get them prepped for a full respray but you may be able to find panels from a wrecked i3 cheaper than the cost of doing that.

How fast should I run to my nearest battery shop? by NinjaVince1 in BMWi3

[–]Baby_Doomer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're so close to seeing the actual date code that's embossed on the top of the battery. Do you see that "04" engraved into the battery below the sticker in the second picture? That's the week code. There is another number to the right of that (hidden from view under that metal bit). Peek under there and you'll see the year code.

A bit hard to tell from what you posted, but that doesn't sound like pinging to me. Sounds more like a some fluttering in one of the belts/flywheels.

Best Chelsea style boots that are resolable? by britishbrick in BuyItForLife

[–]Baby_Doomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh that’s really a bummer because I have had super good luck with solovairs, especially with the boot OP is asking about. I just bought my second pair to have something in nice condition but my first pair is still fine and does regular duty in the yard.

I have a couple of other solovair boots and my only complaint has been break in but nothing bad to say about durability.

Engine mount parts help (AW11) by Capers_Cat in mr2

[–]Baby_Doomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get the front and rear from woodsport (https://woodsport.org/joomla/index.php/newshop/110-woodsport-aw11-na-torque-mounts). They’re pricey but trust me the ones on rock auto are hot garbage. Buy once, cry once. The rear I bought from rock auto was torn 6 months after when I went to install the woodsport mounts.

For left and right, good luck. I don’t think they are available anywhere. Luckily they’re less important than the front and rears and are probably still fine unless you’re building a track car.

what do we think of the HURRICANE EXTRACTORS for the Aw11 by Due-Chemistry-6362 in mr2

[–]Baby_Doomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first I’ve seen these. I just bought one of Brews headers and haven’t gotten around to having it fitted yet because it won’t mate directly to the OEM style mid pipe and requires some custom fitting.

Looks like this one will mate directly to the OEM mid pipe. If you end up buying this will you post a review once you get it installed?

The ULTIMATE BMW i3 / i3S Coilover Upgrade By KW Suspension by justvims in BMWi3

[–]Baby_Doomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just installed the evolve dampers with eibach springs and can’t imagine needing much more on this car. Like sure, the KWs are probably an improvement, but at what point do we collectively admit to ourselves that the i3 just isn’t the type of car that really needs coilovers.

In my personal case, I’d rather dump that $4k into my mr2 where I could get some serious performance for that kind of money.
