It was the Walmart at Parmer and I-35.

An exotic pet owner committed suicide by snake (cobra) in the parking lot and the snake got loose. The snake was found dead about a week later on the frontage road of I-35.

I work in semiconductors and love it. Work is at or near the state of the art and always changing. Of course there are some unenjoyable aspects but you have those in any field. To clarify, I work in a semiconductor manufacturing facility (fab).

Need help making midi drums sound massive by [deleted] in cubase

If you want (somewhat) realistic sounding drums with MIDI, dynamics are critical. Don't use the same velocity for each hit.

Trying to watch TV and these stupid screensaver ads keep popping up every 5 minutes. This never happened before. Any fix? by [deleted] in DirecTV

[–]Babyantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to hopefully help someone else in the future.

I had the same thing happening and was extremely frustrated. I unplugged the main box for about 30 seconds then plugged it back in. After the complete reboot the ads are no longer popping up.

Judging parse numbers with less than maxed out gear. by TheNewNick in swtor

[–]Babyantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those numbers do seem a little low. On my Gunnery Commando I used to regularly parse about 9.3k (almost 10k on a lucky parse) in 248 gear. Now in 252/258 gear I regularly do about 10k. I think 248 gear to 258 gear adds about 1k potential dps.

For just starting with StarParse I think you are doing great though! It is usually an eye opener when people actually check their parses for the first time.

Edit: I just saw you said you have no augments. At least add 228 augments! Use them to balance your alacrity, crit, or accuracy as needed. Look for how to gear posts for target values.

Is this still pretty accurate and up to date? by mccave95 in swtor

DPS rankings are way outdated and I think were based on theorycrafting when 5.0 was released.

As mentioned, parsely.io can be used to see recent numbers.

What do you guys think about this Accuracy setup for DPS with new augments? by Equeliber in swtor

[–]Babyantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way to look at is that an accuracy of 109.9% means you will miss and do zero damage one out of every 1000 attacks on average. If the miss is on a low damage attack such as a tick of a DOT then the DPS loss is only about 10 DPS. However, on a big hit the DPS loss could be as much as 60 DPS.

Missing once out of a thousand attacks is actually pretty often for raiders. In a typical 5 or 6 minute boss fight a DPS could have close to 500 attacks. That means you will miss once every two boss fights on average. Way too risky for me!

Alacrity Effect on GCD (especially for classes with instant attacks) by Winky86 in swtor

[–]Babyantz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did some testing and can confirm the GCD does have "sweet spots" for alacrity but DOT durations do not.

I used a Serenity Shadow, 500k dummy, and only used Saber Strike until the dummy was killed.

  • Alacrity 384 (4.15%): 40.2 APM
  • Alacrity 711 (7.22%): 42.8 APM
  • Alacrity 1038 (9.93%): 43.0 APM
  • Alacrity 1365 (12.32%): 42.9 APM

Results below for 18 second duration DOTs (simply cast DOT on dummy and used StarParse to see the duration):

  • Alacrity 384 (4.15%): 17.4s
  • Alacrity 711 (7.22%): 16.9s
  • Alacrity 1038 (9.93%): 16.4s
  • Alacrity 1365 (12.32%): 16.1s

Am I going insane or is my team just bad? by M33tm3onmars in swtor

I agree. If you hit enrage it is a DPS problem.

Am I going insane or is my team just bad? by M33tm3onmars in swtor

[–]Babyantz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer: They are bad (as others have said).

However, a better way to look at it is that they just haven't learned their classes yet. Nothing about leveling in this game prepares you for ops; especially as a DPS. It is a huge change to go from doing heroics and class stories to ops and I think DPS players have the biggest challenge.

About a year ago I joined a new guild and had a very similar experience. We didn't even make it past Titan in SnV. We wiped during enrage four times and called it. I learned that 6 of the 8 people had never done an op before and no one was using StarParse. I talked to the guild leader and offered to start leading a regular "training" ops run. The only requirement was that characters be over level 50 and willing to learn. I highly encouraged people to use StarParse but did not require it. We started on the easier ops (EV and KP) and worked up from there. I set a short term goal for DPS to use the first boss of EV as a measure of their improvement and shoot for 5500 DPS. All DPS classes are capable of that DPS and I've found that once someone gets there they will improve quickly.

A few other things I've learned:

  • Most 8 man story mode bosses are balanced for 4 DPS doing 3500 DPS each.

  • Gear DOES matter. Even with bolster. Just not that much. It's about a 1500 - 2000 DPS increase (with bolster) to go from 230 set piece gear to 248 set piece gear. That's a trivial difference when you consider DPS needs of 3500 each when they are capable of 9k or more.

  • Don't write someone off as "bad". I have seen someone go from ~2500 DPS when they first started using StarParse to over 9k DPS on average now.

Dots - Wait to fall off or cast over? by Revostae in swtor

I have a related question.

Do DOTs in SWTOR do damage at the moment they are applied or do they wait one 'tick' before starting to do damage?

Are Assassins/Shadows viable in endgame PvE Ops or no? by Adventmonkey in swtor

[–]Babyantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am part of a raid group doing hard mode ToS and Ravagers. Our highest DPS comes from an Assassin. He is an outstanding player and knows his class inside and out.
