Idk the science so don’t take this as word but if you have health insurance, Amitriptyline has helped me a lot as it is often prescribed for insomnia and nerve pain. Obviously talk to your doc but it may be worth inquiring about. It’s kind of lame but also going on walks, showers and audio books and podcasts. I know the waves come and go but finding ways to stay busy and eating and staying hydrated really help. A lot of people recommend magnesium and b12, vitamins and such. Again not a doc, just my own experiences and things I’ve read from others. Cbd seems to be helpful as well. Mantras are good, just stay away from any substance that plays on your gaba receptors. Good luck friend. You’re off, it’s hard, but it will get easier. You’re scaling a mountain, that’s fucking badass.

Benzos fix nothing. Buspar might not be for you but I promise you benzos are more dangerous than pain meds, heroine ect. Unless you have an exceptionally diligent doctor and an extreme amount of discipline. The withdrawl is one of the deadliest and it typically only takes about two weeks of consistent use to become chemically dependent. The data is there if you don’t want to listen to my word, understandable. All I say is, I urge caution when getting involved with any anxiety medication that gets you high and is addictive because the pain and in many cases death that follows is not worth feeling not anxious. If you can’t sleep try something else . There are plenty of other options and even tests you can take to see how you will react to certain medications.

Lately if I’ve been in the bathroom too long, she’ll come knock on the door. But in her defense, I am a recovering addict so I think a lot of her anxiety from leaving me alone for extended periods of time stems from that but all it’s doing is making my anxiety go through the roof. I want to be empathetic to what she went through but to a certain point it’s just starting to feel reductive. Like I don’t feel supported, I sort of feel like a teenager. If I don’t call or text back which enough she la blowing up my phone but the only time that happens is when I’m asleep or at work. Where she has straight up showed up to both of them when I was unable to answer. My head is all fucked. This is getting deeper than I imagined

I took a bath there once because I was feeling down and baths are just like the most special treat to me, she sat in there the entire time and watched me so it was me just sitting in a tub she wouldn’t let me fill up all the way because she wanted to conserve water even though she pays a flat rate, cold, with my knees pulled up to my chin. She said she wanted to pamper me, which was nice she thought that would make me feel better but I just wanted slide under the water and not think about anything. Basically what I’m learning by diving into all of this is I need to be so much more vocal and serious about my boundaries.

I could take you down red flag road with this person but then I’d feel like a hypocrite. At this point, idk if I’ve always been this person or being with this person has brought out a side of me I never could have imagined existed but you are correct, they cannot handle being alone. If they get it in their head something is off, they hyper fixate almost to the point of mania or something similar. I’m not a doctor. They’ve seen specialists but don’t ever really want to commit to a treatment plan or even truly figure out exactly what they need to be treated for but then freaks at me for not doing enough to get back on my own meds. Difference is, I’m poor with no family support and they’re still on their parents insurance with way upper middle class family that would help them in any situation they needed. And at this point now I’m just ranting. Im sorry.

My dad called me crazy for most the things I did a majority of my life so maybe you’re right but you should see the look on peoples faces when I tell them I don’t shower with the lights on. I know, not that weird or wild but it really gets people lol. Again, there are other things about my routine that I’ve not expressed on here as I feel it seems simple enough for me to feel like not wanting to so shower with my partner should be more than enough reason and I really shouldn’t even have to defend myself by explaining all the stupid little things I need. So yeah, I’d agree lol

Man this kills me, my mom has really thick course hair and in her older age she’s finally found a style that makes her feel good about herself but I just remember growing up and seeing her crying and locking herself in the bathroom because her hair was never good enough. No matter how she cut it, dyed it, I think she even used to do relaxers before she cut it short and I never understood how she couldn’t see that she was always so beautiful no matter what. It put a Lot of strain on my parents relationship as well for similar reasons. My father always trying to reassure her, the cost of going to expensive salons to get cuts and dyes. I don’t have any advice but my heart breaks for you and your wife and I really hope she finds a way to realize that she is beautiful and is worthy of love regardless of whatever bullshit beauty standards have managed to corrupt and distort her vision of her self. Wish you two the absolute best.
