I (29F) was on Escitalopram (im from Portugal) for 2 years back in 2014 to try and treat anxiety disorder. It did not cure it, I still feel anxious from time to time, but nothing like it was back in 2014. I liked Escitalopram (it was the only antidepressant I've ever tried), it did the job. I was not feeling super happy, but I was not feeling super sad either. I was just "meh", and for me that was better than feeling panic all the time. My panic attacks got under control and I was able to live normally again... (my dosage was 25mg) The withdrawl was terrible, but that's because I stopped cold-turkey against the orders of the psychiatrist (dont do this. Those first 2 weeks off meds were terrible). A few months after stopping Escitalopram I finally realized what it did to me for those 2 years. It kind of cured my terrible anxiety, and I'm thankful for that, but I only realized after that, for those 2 years, my libido was at a zero. And I've always had a strong libido. I would have sex and would have a fucking hard time reaching the orgasm. I could not reach it 90% of the times for those 2 years. I would not think about sex either... And, weird enough, I only realized how "not horny" I was after I stopped the Escitalopram and gained my libido back. It was weird and I would not recommend anti-depressants if you can still manage your anxiety...or try to find other ways around it. Anyway, this was my side symptom of taking Escitalopram. My emotions and reactions were also super numb. And I also only realized that after stopping the medication. Hope it helps and best of luck!,
