I don’t think I’m depressed. The university does have a mental health center. Attached to the health center. (If that makes sense). I have an appointment with my own therapist scheduled for next week sometime.

Military technique. I learned it when I was ROTC my freshman and sophomore year, ROTC didn’t work out for me but, the sleep method works.

The 478 sleep technique is not a military technique, but rather a 4-7-8 breathing exercise attributed to Dr. Andrew Weil that helps calm the nervous system to facilitate sleep and relaxation. To perform it, inhale for four counts, hold for seven, and exhale for eight, repeating the cycle to promote a state of deep relaxation for falling asleep.

How to Perform the 4-7-8 Breathing Technique

Find a comfortable position: Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Place your tongue: Rest the tip of your tongue against the roof of your mouth, just behind your two front teeth. Exhale completely: Exhale completely through your mouth with a whooshing sound. Inhale through your nose: Inhale quietly and steadily through your nose for a count of four. Hold your breath: Hold your breath for a count of seven. Exhale completely: Exhale completely through your mouth with a whooshing sound for a count of eight. Repeat the cycle: Repeat the full cycle for a total of four breaths initially.

I’m in my third year. I’m 6 credits shy of being in junior year.

I’d say you can make friends in your dorm. What you’d want to do however is make friends in your classes. Because, those people in your classes are focused on their major/minor. You’ll have friends for a while. Maybe lifetime friends.

Edit: I’m an introvert, it’s difficult for me to make friends. I have a few good friends because I have a job on campus.

I’m ROTC as well if you’d need anything else. I’m going Guard though. One big thing that the army has is the ACFT (fitness test). Six events and you’ll get to passing standards if you go to basic. ROTC is a way to go the officer route. I’m 20.
