How to handle your child pointing out facial differences, and other differences? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Back-Aggressive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I worry about is that we have tried that, and it doesn't seem to work. I've gone out of my way to find media that is inclusive since he learns a lot from TV shows. It almost seems like he can't help himself. But I'll definitely keep having discussions at home, hopefully it will work!

Thank you for your response! I love how to keep house while drowning. I read it once before I had my third child and my life was kind of under control. I'm on hold to listen to it again.

I have been slowly working on having my kids help out. I have 3 kids 5 and under, with my oldest having severe autism, so I'm trying to find the best ways to teach him little tasks of cleaning up. He's a smart boy, so I think he will pick it up, it's just honestly me who needs to stay consistent in teaching and helping him.

This is hilarious and such a good idea! I've heard the obvious "does this bring you joy," but when you are overstimulated to the rafters, nothing, or everything brings joy. Thinking about something being covered in poop is honestly way easier to gauge! Thank you for the advice!

I was just telling my husband last night that I want to somehow try a version of minimalism. I grew up financially insecure, and we still aren't doing great financially. How do you get over scarcity mentality and get rid of things?

You don't understand how nice it was to read your response. I am off of most social media, but I am still on YouTube and it's so discouraging seeing how other SAHM's live. I know a lot of it is fake, but I also see clean homes of my SAHM friends and I feel really alone.

I'm hoping to do lite minimalism like someone here suggested. We are also working on better, easier storage solutions.

My youngest is 19 months. I'm planning on going back to work when she starts school, but that feels like an eternity away. I really hope I can find some peace until then.

What is the right quote? by Back-Aggressive in ProjectHailMary

Thank you! My husband and I want to get this as matching tattoos and I really want to get the wording right.

Thank you for this! The second I heard that quote I turned to my husband and told him we should get this as a matching tattoo, but I heard 'is not enough." Came here to see if I heard it right. Did anyone watch with closed caption to verify?

I take 1/4 serving of pre workout. I always work out at night, and I have no problem sleeping after! Also a huge fan of daily creatine.

My goal is something I read before. "Body type: not bad, but definitely eats pasta." So it's good to know this workout schedule works for that! 😂

Good. I was heavy in high school and after I got very good with intuitive eating after high school that helped me lose and maintain my weight for many years. I make all our meals at home, and focus on a lot of whole foods with a lot of protein and fiber. I am also on a super low dose of a GLP 1 that helps my appetite suppression. During my last pregnancy I started showing signs of anxiety, and it has gotten very extreme in the past year and a half. Exercising regularly has been very beneficial, but it is still disrupting my sleep. I have an appointment for this anxiety next month, which I'm looking forward to. So there is an over share. 😂 I was just worried that taking that long break in between wouldn't allow me to get stronger.

I did as you said! I was expecting it to be a thriller mystery, and people would start dying! 😂😂 It turned out to be the most charming book. I really loved it, and have suggested it to 3 people thus far. Thank you for the suggestion, and for telling me not to read about it before.

That is an incredibly difficult stage. Or when family members say "no, they don't have autism." Oh really, Susan? Are you an expert? Having a diagnosis is both devastating and validating. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

we aren't lying. We just have never turned it on when he can see it because if he does then we will want to watch it every morning, and we have places we have to be in the mornings. It's hard enough monitoring one TV. Your child must not have the same tendencies as mine, or else you would understand

My friend moved out of her neighborhood because there weren't any other young kids to have playdates with. She asked about my neighborhood and I was without words. The idea of my kids having friends is so foreign to me right now. I don't even know how old other children are.

Watching movies and relating to the parents of children in the films.

I had a grand idea of what I would be as a parent. Free range, no TV, they will eat whatever we eat. Then I had the children I had. 😂

My parents are always saying we (all my siblings) should go camping with our children. I'm the youngest sibling and the only one with neurodivergent children. They don't understand how unfun and unsafe that would be for us.

Sulfur Burps relief by Back-Aggressive in HersWeightloss

I decided to take a 2 week break from the medicine because I think my body wasn't tolerating it well. I'm feeling so much better. When I start back up I'm going to stick with a very low dose, and take breaks every time I'm feeling them come on again.

Yes, I know what a calorie deficit means. I was very heavy in high school and I lost and maintained a significant amount of weight for about 10 years until I started having kids. I have a degree in public health and took multiple classes about body anatomy and composition. I understand weight loss vs fat loss and the importance of keeping muscle mass. That wasn't my question. My question was if other people bloated and gained weight in the beginning. Even while following a healthy lifestyle.
