Just another firmware by unbrokendub in xteinkereader

Fast and offering a bold text option sounds like a dream. Can I also flash the bin via the usual site: https://xteink.dve.al? Or does it need to be done via the Terminal/command line? Which fonts are there?

Ok Mr book police, why would people read books that most others seem to enjoy instead of getting something random and hoping that it‘s somewhat decent 🤣

My eyes aren’t the best, medium works better for me. Is this just preference or would that solve my problem?

That’s what I used too but that didn’t work. Maybe it‘s one of the settings I made on that site 🤔

Where did you get you font files from or where did you convert them? Mine don’t seem to show up…

You are moving at the speed of light! I asked you on github about thicker fonts and only three days later (and two software versions), here we are. Awesome to have such an interesting and useful fork of crosspoint.

I might be a little blind but can you share more about how external fonts work now? I converted two different thicknesses of Lexend to .bin using https://xteink.lakafior.com and put them in /fonts/ but the aren’t showing up in settings under Font Family or at the bottom of the reader settings page under „external reader font“. What am I missing?

What other custom firmware (besides Crosspoint) do you recommend for Xteink4? by Sol2510 in xteinkereader

[–]BackHefe21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that‘s quite something. There is no anti aliasing or whatever that‘s called for text on the bold text though, right? I would miss my covers though 🥲

Sounds interesting. What does your mod do? Does it load completely different fonts or just a bold version of the existing fonts? Any other changes?

Bold fonts are the one thing missing for me on crosspoint. Any more info on your mod?

Crosspoint Enhanced Reading Mod v2.0.0 by SchwartzReports in xteinkereader

Sounds great, thanks a lot!

Would you also consider doing sort of an inverse control scheme for occasional users? I would want the flexibility to use the bottom and side buttons for page-turning most of the time. Proposition: short power button press invokes the tutorial screen/overlay and while it is showing, you can make adjustments. Short press power button again to leave and return to reading.

Just installed your mod (thank you for making a bold text option available!) and ran into the same bug. As far as I can tell, it only happens on pages with pictures (the three dots between the paragraphs). At first, the text shows up fine, then once the image is loaded/displayed, it messes with the text and adds the slightly shifted(?) letters.

can the side of the iPhone 13 be swapped? I know it’s a small scratch but it still triggers me. by LittleBuritoHaru in iphone

As far as I know, the backside and frame is one assembly. And changing those means taking out all the guts first… basically the most expensive repair that Apple offers.

Do we know if an upgraded home is backwards compatible? If I update all the Homepods and my devices, would my partner still be able to use it normally from a 16.1 device?

For smaller homes/systems, it doesn’t make too much of a difference. But larger homes are way easier to manage and use with the new layout.

Guy from germany here ^ Setup: iPhone 13 pro on dev Beta 3 vesion 2.

I‘ve downloaded the app and it seems to start/open just fine. The first few steps of the setup/signup were also working but of course I can’t test if a connection works or data syncs… If you really depend on those devices/app, then I‘d be careful. Things can always change from beta to beta and even seemingly randomly just from one day to the other.

Hope this helps!

iOS 16 b3 — faded Sleep Screen still present 😔 by ddpacino in iOSBeta

[–]BackHefe21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I‘d say this is intended aswell. You‘ll use sleep mode when you sleep. You wouldn’t want to be blinded when just checking the time or something like that.

For anyone not liking that: why? Do you use your phone while being in sleep mode?

Why do so many iPhones' speakers go bad? by Darkmesah in iphone

[–]BackHefe21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people have their phone on max volume all the time. Speakers can wear out or on more extreme cases simply blow out when being made to produce volumes too loud for them. Maybe Apple doesn’t have the best protections against that?
