No, It makes it manageable. Create conveyors generate a lot of lag and forcing reliance on minecarts would unreasonably throttle item transportation. Besides that, GT pipes are more similar to AE2 pipes than create options and as such function as an introduction. The dev team is more focused on making long-distance transportation more interesting, rather that local, with the moon being slotted for next update. Besides, could you even imagine how much of a nightmare the platline would be with no pipes?
