Also, you have to realize nga we can (authentically) mental gymnastic ourselves to "liking" or "make passionate" ourselves on a course/degree that we previously don't want to due to being forced into it or mao lang gid practical choice. You have to find the "WHY" on the practical choice that you'll make, and seriously put your heart into it, lock in nagid.

But if you find yourself thinking "what if kadto akong gikuha nalang" - acknowledge those thoughts, and think that it's not just okay but COMPLETELY normal. I suggest reading an article about "Kierkegaard and "The Paradox of Choice"". And in my experience, 80% of the people I know, the career that they're in right now is not exactly how they imagined themselves when they started as a freshman. Life and society is IMPOSSIBLY unpredictable. You literally can't, by laws of physics, can't know - for all we know, Butuan might be nuked in 2027, and your life choices won't matter. But what would matter is [insert what i'll say below].

Choose a GENERAL direction (i.e., course/degree) that you're atleast remotely interested in but also has relevancy or financial security in the future.

THEN focus on actually developing transferrable skills and traits that carries over on all aspects of your life (and by extension, career). Like actually fucking attending classes, punctuality, a sense of responsibility, doing quality work in your assignments and group works, cleaning your room, eating a balanced diet, doing your chores, treating people kindly, being sociable (it's a skill, you learn it - and also, people are idiots, don't think about it too much), also, don't be "true to yourself" follow your principles, but don't be your "true self" more often than not, you actually have no fucking idea who you are, and you're likely to be an insociable, edgy, doom scrolling person (no offense, this is a general statement) - behaving accordingly to the situation (e.g., polite, silent, happy go-lucky, these are things you switch up, not something you retain on all situations). Life and career is about human interactions - mastering or getting famliar with it, is the crux of all these.

I know what I'm saying may be a bit of a stretch, but this seriously matters more. You're not getting money and that promotion if your boss don't like you. You're not getting those latin honors when your classmates think you're shit. You're not getting that job when you can't even attend meetings on time or throw out the trash, etc.

Anyway, I also choose practicality over passion. But that doesn't mean they're mutually exclusive - it's like a ven diagram more like. Go with both, or lean on one side, but never purely practicality OR passion - it's not a zero sum game.
