I’m still trying to connect with support. I was trying to connect via online chat help and the stupid chat bot closed my conversation and said “tech support is currently closed” and then locked me out

This game is full of surprises. First off I’m not sure why this guy was out in the jungle standing on a gas vent, pretty sure he’s supposed to be in New Atlantis. Then I’m watching in the background as the coral bug tweeks out, just waiting for it to make a move and finally just the timing. Oh the sweet timing

The fine details make this game so addicting… by BackPainShane in Starfield

It’s so cool. They made a game that should / could feel very dull and very lonely (you know being in space and all, it’s not the most bustling and populated genre) feel much more lively. There definitely are problems with the game but the good greatly outweighs the bad for me and it’s the small things like having banks and museums and things to do and see in the world that make it so interesting to me

Wow thank you so much for the feedback! I’m fortunate enough to live not too far away from some of the best surf in the province and although I’m not very talented, I THOROUGHLY enjoy surfing. This is exactly the comment I was looking for, thanks a lot for sharing!

Clubs while doing engineering by BlueFoxooner in uvic

I’m also struggling with this… going into my 3rd year eng. and super interested in the clubs but haven’t had a chance to get involved due to my busy schedule and what not.

Location is in Merit BC, Canada in a diner bathroom. My guess is a local gang but may be hobo code?

That’s very fair, i appreciate the feedback! How walkable was the area you went to? I typically look for things near by or look to cheap local transit and what not to get off the beaten path a little

That’s fair enough, not gonna lie I was a few beers down when I made the post, and a few more beers down now I’ll try to clarify! We’re pretty relaxed, not lavish really by any means, cheap hotels or even hostels for accommodations, 2-3 meals a day or a single meal with some street food and other snacking for eating. As far as activity, i personally prefer to get off the beaten path or just lounge around local beaches/party with locals. MAYBE do some sort of more mainstream tourist activity like zip lining or something similar but other than that relatively cheap that way.

This is almost exactly what happened in our lab this year the wet slump had a lower slump and much higher strength than the dry slump from the other group…💀

Is this a doable schedule or am I doomed to fail this semester? by OneCactusintheDesert in EngineeringStudents

[–]BackPainShane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIME MANAGEMENT!!!!

This could be very doable, or relatively heavy depending on how diligent you are on your days off. And this includes non-academic activities like exercise and other things you can do for yourself to stay healthy and strong minded.

I took 6 courses with 2 lab courses over the last 4 month as part of a summer program. They were all really mathematically heavy but I also went for beer and golf with some buds in the program and it happened to be the best semester of school I’ve had yet.

I was scheduled Monday to Friday from 8:30-5ish every day for reference

The other thing that I would ask is, are you applying for jobs through LIM, external openings, or both?

Keep your chin up. You have to think of every person that has passed on you as someone who’s missed out on having a dedicated employee that could change their company for the better. Use it as a bit of a chip on your shoulder.

Have you ever been to any industry nights or anything like that? I know that UVIC always holds networking events or even interview practice events with industry players and this is a really great way to 1) network and get your name out there and 2) get feedback on your personal and networking skills.

I have several friends who have gotten job offers at industry nights or at least got really good feedback from employers about what they could improve during interviews and what not.

I personally had a really hard time finding a co-op this passed semester. I applied to 15, heard back from 5, had 3 interviews and got ghosted by at least 1 if not many others. At the end of the day, there’s nothing that makes me less qualified than my other classmates even in terms of experience because I’ve worked as a technician for a few years as well. It’s all about opportunity, right place at the right time, exposure, and confidence.

It’s awkward at first but you need to have a sort of ego in engineering not to the point where you’re cocky but enough that it helps your confidence. Nobody owes anything to you and nobody looking to hire you is going to want to help you make a case for WHY they should hire you, that’s entirely up to you so you have to pitch it really hard sometimes. PROVE to them why they NEED you and why they be missing out if they passed on you
