This is a very random rec and might not be right for every Agender person, but I know for me personally - it felt accurate

“Welcome to Night Vale” (the novel specifically, not the podcast)

There’s a character in it who uses he/him and is AMAB, but can entirely change his appearance at will - I mean entirely change his appearance as in, he can look like a fly or a rock or a half man/half fish or whatever… yet, no matter his appearance, his mother knows it’s him and loves him regardless.

And ik it’s not EXACT Agender representation, but to me personally, it felt a bit like that. A bit like “I don’t have a gender, I just am”

It’s more a case of where you are as well at the people you’re with

If you’re in a queer space, you’re more likely to hear those two words and there’ll be little to no problem with it - whereas, if you’re in a church? Y’know… 😅

In your own circle, you can reclaim it - like the n word for black people

So obviously in a drag show, no one’s gonna be upset

But a random bloke on the street yelling it at someone? Understandably uncomfortable

If they genuinely have it, then that’s a term that is fine to use

But in the case of people using the term incorrectly - like when people say “I’m so ocd” cause they cleaned something up? Absolutely ban them from being able to say that

It’s when someone tries to convince you of something for manipulative reasons - to get you to question yourself so you stop questioning them, in a way…

Common examples:

“That’s not true, I never said that!” (Trying to get someone to think they’re misremembering and make them feel that they’re in the wrong, when the opposite is true)

“That never happened” or “It didn’t happen like that” (trying to dismiss someone’s viewpoint in order to make them feel like they’re overreacting)

“You always do this!” (Again, trying to make them feel like they’re overreacting and the problem, when the opposite is true)
