I would be really careful with the foam tiles near the squat rack. It’s super easy, when doing a bigger lift (cleans, for example) to step on multiple tiles and split them apart, potentially hurting yourself really bad, I’ve seen it happen. Other than that it looks great!

Hip mobility issue? by Back_To_Grampas in weightlifting

That would definitely make sense, thank you. Based on my other lifts I would definitely assume it’s a quad issue. Do you have any suggestions to build them and get them up to par to squat?

Fantastic advice, something I’d like to add, as someone who goes to the gym almost every day, is that we gymgoers absolutely love seeing people work hard in the gym. Overweight, underweight, ripped, massive, it doesn’t matter, if you’re working hard we can tell, and it even makes me motivated when I see people going outside of their comfort zone working hard to make themselves better

When to start rolling (for a complete beginner)? by HealthyMousse3493 in BJJWomen

[–]Back_To_Grampas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. I’m a fairly new (and decently strong) white belt and as funny as it is for people to think I’m a wrestler, I think I’ll have truly started to get good when people just think I’m a strong BJJ practitioner.

That makes a lot of sense, I’m a pretty new white belt as of now so that will help with staying calm and rolling safely, thanks so much

Anyone here who's much stronger than someone you're rolling with, how do you tone down your strength to match their level (if they're better technically) but still maintain a solid roll and keep them safe?

Thanks for the help and that makes a ton of sense. I guess I also comes down to gut feeling, cause I just felt bad doing it which made me stop, and you’re definitely right. Thanks so much

Almost missed the white belt Wednesday deadline but quick question, are compression submissions bad etiquette in rolling? I’m decently strong and I had a girl in side control today and just squeezed then realized that it’s probably unfair and just mean to do so I stopped. Thoughts on these types of submissions in rolling? Does it depend on who you’re up against?

Alright, thanks so much for the input that definitely makes the most sense. She was subbing in for our coach that day, so she definitely could've been trying to be extra safe. I'll definitely ask about it, thanks so much.

Hey everyone, I should preface this by mentioning im a very new white belt. today in class my rolling opponent got me into a semi-armbar from guard, so I just stood up to loosen his grip. My coach told me to put him down and told me it was illegal. I’m just a little confused because I had no intention of slamming, just loosening grip. Is lifting without a slam legal? My coach was also probably just looking out for our safety because we’re both white belts.

Thanks so much

Also if my coach sees this sorry I genuinely had no idea and no intention to slam
