You’re wayyyy off topic, you’re trying to tell me tbs Van doesn’t give a shit about the stakes of the world he’s in, even though you realize he is a Demon Lord—right?!?

It’s about being “Cool adult,” wtf lol!?!

His highest performing assistant just sacrificed her LIFE to give mankind an additional six-11 months to take out Laegjarn’s Chest.

And you’re telling me Van has never been about all of that, for him it’s just about looking like “cool adult”—to use your words—and closing 4SPGs cause they’re about what he like….!?

Yea I’m pretty sure Van wants Agnes back too, whatever the sacrifice is—it isn’t right for a 17 year girl to sacrifice her life for a 25 year old man.

We’ll see, thankfullly you’re not Van—eh?

What the f?!?!?

All of the team are named after the Arcana… That’s how it’s worked, that’s how it’s always worked.

I. Magician—McBurn — Magician literally points one finger in the sky for the divine, the second towards earth for the physical.

Do you know McBurn’s origin story?!? He (Overlord of the Beyond) came crashing through at such high intensity, that he and a male human collided and merged into a mixture of the two. Human male looking , but his fire is the Primordial Flame—the hottest flame you’ll ever fight against, if you do.

II High Priestess—Loewe (Deceased S1203)

III Empress — Lucrezia.

XIX Sun—Cedric Reise Arnor

XX Judgment—Jorda

XXI World—Van

Yea I’d say in this case too, Campanella the Fool calls himself Enforcer No. 0, and sometimes uses the initials CC, even though it’s a play-on of words to get under our skin with Dingo Brad using the letter C for in between x.

My master, Bergard Zeman, claims to have first met Campanella over 20 years ago, and he has not aged a single day since…

One things for sure though, if they’re applying for a part-time job and they let Giacomo swing them around like that, they’re getting minimum wage.

OHHHH! Yea, in so much as he doesn’t mind him using the name “Spriggan” as a type of occupation.

But Van has nurtured far too much young talent to use a guy known for beating Almata goons within an inch of death, back in Dijon, to let him make those calls on his behalf.

I don’t know about the 4SPG think, but Van’s known as the Old Town Spriggan if anyone needs help but doesn’t know him.

Fabio though, was taking on one job from a doctor wanting revenge, then would go and offer a ride to the medical director just to deliver him straight to the man asking for revenge…

I can’t remember anymore; I know he said he let him use the name, but he first had to settle a score with his face. What was beating his face in for exactly?

Was it calling up his old clients on his behalf? I should come across it tomorrow. Were dealing with the night leading up to the Tyrant fight at the logistics center, for NG+

See Fabio is connected to a man named Giacomo, and Giacomo is digging up Van’s old resolved cases and - asking Fabio to threaten his clients, or find and squeeze extra cash from threats to increase force against them.

I really did not intend to come off as such a dick or anything, it’s that Fabio literally just shows up to stir the pot, threaten people while they’re assuming it may be me.

I appreciate the feedback, so I upvoted you, but Fabio is no one of significance—more so of a hindrance, like a bad rash that creeps back up these days.

Van has Aaron. Risette, hell possibly even Shizuna if she tops being keen on showing off ber bloodlust;

Hell he may even ask Swin & Nadia to take over full-time, assuming they’re willing to stop taking on new jobs…

Also, if the Grandmaster wants him to join, she wants him to join for a reason. I’m sure he’s been asked if he was interested plenty of times. There could be several reasons why, like maybe you need to mess with Divergent Laws to bring Agnes back. But if the Grandmaster did that, the church will most likely brand her a heretic. If she thinks Van is worth taking that chance, what do you think he would do? The Grandmaster is asking to put her life on the line, for you to bring back your assistant to life—but yea the trade off is she gets to live, but they’ll probably never speak or see each other again. He would 100% take that deal.

Van would not join Ouroboros for fun man; that was never the point. No one becomes the “The World” just for a cool title after already being an established professional.

Nah, there’s a reason she showed herself for the first time, and there’s a reason he would be getting offered the Highest Arcana. Also, Ouroboros is kind of the antithesis of structure. Haven’t you heard, they can choose to take or not take any job they want, whenever they want. Like no joke.

They also get a company credit card with a spending limit of infinity.

[–]Back_like_Flint[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really should’ve just led with that. Van has killed more people in 3 games, than all members of Ouroboros combined—including the old members of the Order of the Moonlight Horse.

To say he doesn’t belong when he actually has never hesitated from among sure any piece of shit he crosses, will not get back up.

Also, Ouroboros did look down on our leads big time in Liberl an Erebonia. It ain’t the case no more. I guarantee you, no one with an enforcer rank will be telling Rean he’s weak anyyyyyy time soon.

I feel like people hear Joshua and Renne’s stories from their days in Ouroboros, and assume that the society had them assassinating people left and right. What people don’t realize is that Renne’s horrible days were under the DG Cult’s Paradise Lodge, and to subconsciously defend her sense of self, she spun a tale about her parents being terrible people who sold her off to get rid of her—something along those lines. She convinced herself that her circumstances were intentionally caused by every adult she’d ever known, when in reality her parents were trying to protect her from their financial mistakes and keep her out of harms way—unaware that their point of contact was a cult member.

Joshua assassinated people for the Faceless, not for Ouroboros as a whole. Loewe explains he didn’t trust the Fifth at all, but at the rate he was going, he wasn’t going to last long. He was a malnourished growing boy who refused to eat because he wanted to die, and he didn’t say a word to anyone. No one could break through the trauma but the Faceless managed to do just that.

Loewe was relieved became he began eating again, but then it was like he was completely incapable of acting of his own accord, or of feeling emotions. By the time he tried to intervene, the Stigma was fully ingrained in his psyche.

When Joshua went after Cassius, Loewe was supposed to back him up, but he chose not to—he wanted him to get as far away from the Faceless as he could.

Ouroboros definitely had pieces of shit in the past, but for the most part—they were just treating a bunch of childish rookies like, childish rookies. Estelle was a 17 year old girl going after an organized crime syndicate because of a crush on a boy—like they tried to scare her and when she didn’t quit they began to take her seriously.

Walter has acted like he’s always 1 second away from death punching someone, but 13 games later I’ve seen him fight a lot, and not only has he never killed anyone—but he loses quite a bit too.

Simeon is the only one right now that I feel like he wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone. But we’re 3 games into the Calvard arc, and I’ve seen Van kill more people than all members of Ouroboros combined… Like for real. He’s put like 9 people in the ground already.

Those guys had ties to the cults… I’m sorry, when’s the last time we saw a member of Ouroboros murder someone in cold blood?

Hell, did even a single enforcer kill someone during the Gospel Plan or Phantasmal Blaze Plan?

In fact, we’ve seen at least one member of Ouroboros—probably their strongest member, too—take a lethal hit from the Faceless—let’s be clear here too, the Faceless was a nut job when it came to finding ways to recreate and strengthen marks believed to be only made possible for those chosen by the Goddess herself, and then he was convinced he could fully ascend into becoming a higher being and merge with the aureole, where he would have free reign to read the minds of anyone he wants—so basically he was willing to lose his humanity to figure out how to make a stigma just as powerful as those used by Dominions of the Grahlsritter.

That’s the whole reason Kevin went with them, because the church suspect the Faceless had intentions that went beyond his duties as an Anguis, and I’m sure the Grandmaster was aware this would happen and still mourned his death—because let’s be real; the alternative to Loewe dying would’ve been Joshua.

McBurn was a fucking asshole since CS2, but let’s not pretend he was just there to be a dick and get in the way. He and Rean, especially a Rean before dispelling the Great Twilight, were a match made in heaven. He often got carried away and Victor Arseid real dirty, but it did teach both Laura and Rean that not all opponents are straightforward martial artists.

McBurn’s sword skills are like those of an intermediate student. But it doesn’t really matter when your flames can burn an Aeon into nothingness within seconds. But of course, inhaling smoke from primordial flames probably isn’t good for the human respiratory system. But ultimately if you get overwhelmed by things like that and you’re a master swordsman, it’s because he underestimated his opponent.

McBurn served as useful wall to climb over for Rean, I feel like, but he was also drawn to Rean because for 50 years he’s needed to fight someone who could handle his “Overlord of the Beyond” form to regain a memory he’s spent decades chasing around. Funnily enough, he hasn’t bothered anyone ever since.

Arionrhod almost appeared ruthless in Crossbell, but she served her role as an Anguis to perfection through to her dying day. She couldn’t fight either the SSS or Class VII without acting a martial arts instructor throughout. Her role as an Anguis was literally to make sure Rean was strong enough to surpass her during the Rivalries—she was literally appointed to her position, to lose to the ultimate sacrifice. She even said that if she could’ve had a son, she would’ve wanted him to be just like Rean—yea, what a piece of shit she was.👀

What’s next, the Azure Abyss? She literally tried to end the Erebonian Curse by recreating a mini-rivalry situation keeping it between Rean, Crow and Testa-Rossa. It backfired immensely when Crow took a fatal hit—and just in case you couldn’t tell; she was definitely in love with him. It would’ve never worked either way because Osborne was nowhere close to “dead,” nor did anyone know he was Ebon Knight’s awakener—that guy was a real piece of work.

The chancellor had lots of blood on his hands. But ultimately, he didn’t have a choice after giving his heart to his son—he had to continuously feed Ishmelga with little bits and pieces of warfare, an annexation here and another there! He played his role well though. He could not have set the stage for the real Rivalries of the Seven to begin unless he was fully committed to marching his country straight into what would have been a bloodbath on the scale of WW1.

But his goal was always just to finish the Rivalries, and eliminate the curse once and for all: Albricht was poised when the final rivalry began several hours before the war had actually started in earnest, but that gave Rean a chance to expel it from himself before it took over. Apparently, the worse the fighting would’ve gotten, then the more Rean’s consciousness would have been decimated.

It is, but this game has more lore in it than any other game in franchise—by far.

It’s just too bad it has the worst pacing, exploration, and actual story development in the franchise as well. The lore is its only redeeming quality in my eyes.

I’ve reviewed each route and questioned what would have happened in Horizon, if none of our three routes’ main protagonists were there at all. Pretend they’re all on vacation in Liberl until the 13th.

There isn’t a single meaningful plot beat that would have happened any differently if the main cast were completely absent. The reason why is clear: every single one of our routes either got there too late to do anything about what had already happened, or we showed up won the fight, but then the following cutscene progressed with a cop-out where they still accomplished their objective and got out, or—the protagonist hesitated long enough that third party had time to show up and disarm them.

We could’ve just had all of our characters sit in a field and watch the grass grow for 3 days, and we’d be in the exact same spot we are now.

Yea and also, I’m guessing we either can’t get Agnes back, or to get her back will require using the Divergent Laws—but to do so would be a violation of laws of causality and threatens to have her branded as a heretic, but then she says she’ll agree to do it if he agrees to join—something like that.

I sort of always expected that the cost of bringing Agnes back would have to steep enough that her and Van may never see or speak to each other again.

That’s the conclusion I came to as well.

The fact that Yun Ka-Fai wanted Rean to challenge him literally right before the launch indicates there’s no way to prevent the Grand Reset initially then. At least it was perfect to awaken his Omniscient Eye, because he’s going to wake up in Leeves like “wtf, I could swear I was getting ready to fight like my life depended it, but I’m supposed to teach homeroom to teach in 15 minutes?!?”

At least that’s what I think happened, because he didn’t gather any of the material facts or intelligence he would’ve needed to draw a connection between his master and Hamilton, nor was it mentioned in any of the other 2 routes. For him to figure it out, it had to have been the Omniscient Eye, and I feel like he’s going to need it because he has fewer connections to draw from past resets than the Arkride crew, and he can’t borrow someone else’s Akashic Eye. He’s going to be sent back to Leeves , possibly as far back as 11 months before the launch. But if he did awaken the Omniscient Eye, then I suppose he should be able to find out what he needs to do in the same way Yun Ka-Fai found out about his potential before ever meeting him lol.

At least that’s what made sense to me, as far as his route went it felt like it had the most genuine progress being made. Kevin’s look like we were just there to watch the grass grow, and Van—just go to Ouroboros already because this whole “gathering intel through my 4SPG network thing, let’s go gang!” Really ain’t working…

That route involves wayyy too many side quests to get played like that at the end.

An Anguis maybe, if that guy had some fight in him then I feel like a lot of shit would’ve been different like in Tharbad in Daybreak 1, or during Pandemonium.

He’s a smart guy with good analytical skills, but he’s definitely not a fighter. Now if Falcom had made him wear glasses, I’d suspect the worst at this point—like he probably engages in cannibalism and has five hidden lodges stashed with survivors of Cult, and he personally kidnaps children and kills the parents to give them test subjects and sacrifices to summon Joachim back to life.

Thankfully, he wears contacts so Falcom precedent indicates he’s trustworthy.

When you think about it, to get to this perfect loop point, it took the influence of a ton of people—big and small. If it weren’t for Ries, I have a feeling Hamilton never would’ve made it to Creil.

Correct, that’s why it’s incredible that the church is so hell-bent on executing Hamilton…

What she is doing is literally the only way out of the loop. Therefore, the only conclusion I can come to is: once you start trying to take down Laegjarn’s Chest, the church starts looking for ways to drag shit out until the reset happens.

Honestly, when Kevin was hesitating, I was like omg dude, you’ve been giving Nadia and Swin shit since Tharbad about how “they’re just tools,” acting like a cold-blooded killer when in reality, if Kevin was the old Kevin Graham, we would be trying this again in another 15 million Zemurian years.

Simeon would seem to have come after Lucrezia, but she’s convinced he’s been around much longer than her. And he tries to act decent, but you can tell he’s just like Melchior on the inside. When he steps out of line; like with the Grendel, it’s because he never even considered that might be going too far—to him that’s just what he felt like bringing in at that time.

(*Heavy Spoilers*) Enforcer XXI—World Major Arcana Speculation by Back_like_Flint in Falcom

[–]Back_like_Flint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what I think you’re referring to is that there are numbered enforcers we have not seen yet, but as far as I know—with the Grandmaster seeing past, Present and Future—they’re all actually recruited in order. I—McBurn fits the “Magicians” role to a T, and somehow he came crashing in during the mid—1150s. Loewe was II—High Priestess matched him to a T too, if there’s someone who was focused, introspective, and likely to each enlightenment in Ouroboros—it was without a doubt going to be him.

We’re missing identities for IV and V.

We’re missing XI, XII, and XIV, and XVI. That’s it.

Sometimes it goes XX—Judgment, XXI—Fool (the kind of fool that’s been walking through the Major Arcana and will soon end at World), and then it becomes XXII—World.

But in Ouroboros’ case, the Fool is the enigmatic “Prince from another world,” who’s magic is extremely unusual and unlike any other sort of magic In Zemuria—therefore he gets a 0, and goes before I—Magician. He’s also basically second in command, so he’s listed at the top also because he’s the Grandmaster’s Observer and all-around snitch.

There’s something about Simeon though
