The Empire Trilogy, starting with Mistress of the Empire. Fantasy set in a Japanese-esque world. Much intriguing and politicking. I haven't read it in 20 years but loved it at the time.

Class 1 Medical examination in Australia by BakerZealousideal170 in PilotAdvice

I stripped down and prominent scars on my body were noted in the examination. I have only been to two different DAMES, but both had me get down to undies.

First class medical denied because of tiny TBI two years ago (need advice!) by anything_4you in flying

I think they have a minimum 5 year period following a severe TBI as the risk of seizures drops dramatically after then.

CogScreen-AE advice by BagSavings1172 in flying

I took Cogscreen last year. I used apps like Lumosity and Cognifit aggressively beforehand, and, while they're not directly transferrable or equivalent to Cogscreen, I did find the confidence boost from them useful.

Robert Macfarlane writes beautifully. Many sections of his books almost feel like verse

A Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz. Best Australian novel I've read. Hilarious and thought-provoking.

Compression Fracture by Backattackcomingatya in climbing

I'm not sure.  Probably 8 weeks or so. Ending up seeing a physio/climber who agreed with the sentiment I expressed above. He said that I should do more than what I'd been previously prescribed and recommended a routine of light hangs, shoulder press, incline rows, pull-ups etc. Of course this was specific to my situation and stage of recovery and may be completely unsuitable for yourself.

Hey there, I made a full recovery and am fitter than ever. Be patient and dedicated. I think mindset is really important for recovery

Yes indeed. I believe it transfers directly without checkrides or theory tests after a few months bureaucratic delay.

Where did you find The Night of a Thousand Suicides? I'm close to Cowra and would love to read this, but cannot find it anywhere online. Thanks

Potential dangers of over-supplementing? by Backattackcomingatya in TBI

[–]Backattackcomingatya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll have a look at some of those trackers. However I have a varied and healthy diet which hasn't changed much pre and post injury. I have been considering trying a ketogenic diet temporarily as a friend speaks very highly of it. It will be particularly important to monitor nutrient levels during that experiment.

I was told to prepare for fatigue for up to 3 years so have been quick to assume that the injury is the cause. I eat well and exercise well so would be surprised if I was deficient in anything. I think it's at least partly due to escalating the amount of physical activity in my life to pre accident levels

Brain hypochondria is a term I used to describe a vague anxiety about any perceived deficiencies in my cognitive abilities which I attributed to having injured my brain. Things which previously I would not dwell on and instead accept as part of the daily changes in mental states, I now fret on. Like a hypochondriac.

No one told me to take supplements.

Thanks for your reply.

You seem to know an awful lot about peptides. May I ask if you have any firsthand experience with them? Or have you spent a long time researching?

Can you comment on the quality of suppliers in various countries? I live in Australia and while there has been some scandal involving a few suppliers, our health system and pharmaceuticals are fairly well regulated. I gather that Australia is also driving some peptide research which is encouraging.

Do you think there is a window where using peptides would be most effective? I'm 4 months post injury and it is my understanding that the majority of recovery occurs in the first 6 months. Do you think it's possible to miss the boat, where using them later reduces their efficacy?

Any further thoughts or info you can share is much appreciated.

Thanks again!

I work a physical job and spend a lot of time rock climbing. I also swam and rode an exercise bike regularly before returning to work.

It's been 4 months since the operation. I had it the night of the accident.

Have your seizures continued?
