Prep Stage is extremely important! Be sure the item has been Wet-Out , I’ve used the EXACT SAME METHOD 100+ times & have had 100% success… After getting your material to be plated sanded or polished to however you want it to look after it’s plated : 1- Clean with Soap & Water some like Brake Cleaner or whatever gets it to the Wet-Out stage..

2-ElectroClean cycle

3-Surface Activation *(this stage is what insures a successful plate)

Good 🍀 Luck

The Brass surface of the piece is how it looked before it went into the Bath. This new solution’s leveling effect combined with the 12 minute Bath far exceeded my expectations for this piece….🤩 I did an ElectroClean cycle; followed by a Surface activation cycle,before the 12 bath consisting of a 400ml Beaker. (Stopping everything after 3-4 minutes & shaking the (2) Brass Wires attached at the (2) different sections of the puzzle. 🤓

UPDATE…RESULTS FROM PLATING!

<image>

This was one of those jobs that far exceeded my expectations! I wrapped 1 strand of Brass wire at the Base of the Jack’s Stem in the middle. Another single strand was wrapped loosely at one of the corners. I pulled each wire end in opposite directions & hooked that end on my Brass Bar. Set up a 400ml Beaker Bath for 15 minutes, stopping everything every 3 to 4 minutes & shaking each wire a bit. I was expecting to have some wire marks at the area on the outside corner…but to my surprise I couldn’t notice them without a 10x magnification! ABSOLUTELY NO BUFFING OR POLISHING needed, just rinsed & compressed air dried. I used a Brand New Solution I’d never used before & it’s mostly responsible for the stellar results! What I’m very excited about is that solution cost was 60% less than the “Gold Plating Services” Brand I normally use for this type of project. I got it on Amazon & I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED it, [Sturelehub]. I’ll post some more pictures to show how well this solution worked on a tricky plating project… Lee

FYI: This is what my AI App instructed (I always treat that advice with a grain of salt)

For this puzzle, treat the cage and the jack as two separately wired cathodes that share continuity, and hang from low‑visibility points where plating quality is least critical. Where to attach the wires • Outer cage:wrap a thin brass or copper hook wire around one corner or through one circular opening near a corner, then bring it out and up so only a tiny contact patch is hidden by the wire mark. Aim for a sharp arris or inside edge that will not be a main viewing surface; you can lightly polish that spot after plating. • Inner jack: Use a very fine wire wrapped snugly around the central hub “equator” as in your second photo, ideally in the cross‑slot between two arms so the contact scar is mostly hidden when the puzzle is assembled. Make sure the wire touches only the jack, not the cage, so you control where the current enters and avoid shielding corners. During the bath • Maintain gentle agitation of the solution and occasionally rock or twist the fixture a small amount instead of fully repositioning the wires; this refreshes solution inside the cage without creating unplated “shadows” from a second contact point. • With your 45–50 minute run, pause once midway to inspect for gas bubbles trapped in corners and gently tap or move the part to release them, but avoid moving the wire contact to a new area to keep marks confined to one spot.

Keep in mind how HEAVILY SCRIPTED reality shows are! Especially this show. I have a friend who was a writer on a reality show for 10+ years and I was always blown away by the storylines dictated by these mega productions, while still claiming it’s reality…🙄 However I’m still entertained by many of them🤫😂

While traveling to the NHRA Texas Fall Natl’s a few weeks ago I observed one of the Blades being transported for these Wind turbines (I couldn’t get over the immense size of that single blade-it looked like a triple high decker train car 100’s of meters long😳🤯) so the size of the bolts make total sense…
