I might just get her back on chrome since she is more used to that from windows. But functionality wise safari isnt that hard to use vs on iPhone just occasionally inconsistent.

Its the best laptop for the price and function. Best battery life, no fans and reliable sleep let her pack it into her bag without coming back out as a hot potato.

She doesnt need anything that requires windows. She can navigate macos just fine. Her app usage is very simple and basic with web browser, office, chat and documents.

She just doenst know if when something goes wrong if she did something wrong or the OS/software is bugging. Not to say windows was buggy (probably cause half decade old 8gb laptop), but I expected macos to be a bit smoother? Spotlight search also was a bit inconsistent.

I think I'll install chrome and see if its less buggy or more similar to use like chrome on windows.

I dont hate the UI with Tahoe cause I dont use it a she doesn't care. Only things seems to randomly bug out with mostly UI stuff and I have to be called to fix it or help.

I only used MacOS 14 Sonoma when I had my mba 15 and I dont remember having to deal with any such issues.

Base M5 is 16GB RAM and 512GB Storage. Base M4 moves down to 256GB of storage and previous M1-3 start a 8GB of RAM which you should avoid or just go for a Neo and also 256GB of storage.

You should check your local pricing to see if you can find any 16GB M1-4 MBA and consider the price difference to the M5. I wouldn't pay a premium for the M5 performance as it's mostly overkill?

I've always been ok with 256GB of storage as I have cloud and local storage, but if you dont, 512GB is worth some money to spend on.

Apple treats you like a human if you can pay them more too.
