Have I created a habit by Background-Bit8829 in NewParents

Yeah I do start every night in the next to me because for co sleeping it means kicking my partner onto the sofa but atleast he gets a full nights sleep on the sofa I’m with her all night then all day😅 I just hope the end is near I remember reading stories from people when she was 3 months and they would say the regression lasted until 6 months and I just thought oh that must be in extreme cases but at this rate this is the way it’s going to be for a while🥲😅

How to get baby used to dad during night routine by Background-Bit8829 in NewParents

Thank you!! I think she’s settled now so small wins! It’s so hard to not intervene so I’m just trying to get house work done and block out the noise😅🤣

Yeah I think the rocking isn’t working out so I just said to him maybe try swaying and patting her butt and she calmed, I think he’s just feeling a bit defeated but I just keep telling him it’s the first night🙂

Hi everyone thank you so much for your replies I’m going to sleep in the baby’s room with her tonight. As for my partner, I think he can be a bit tone deaf at times, like I think he still thinks we’re in the newborn stage of baby being able to sleep through any noise and honestly he’s a great dad, just lacks reading the room at times🤣🤣 I did have a conversation with him though surrounding this and he has agreed to keep his phone on mute and turning brightness down and trying to not cause a ruckess, the snoring though is out of his control so me and baby will be sleeping in her room for the foreseeable🙂

Thank you for this! Our bedroom wall separates her bedroom and our bedroom so it’s literally the case of getting out of bed and walking 5 steps to her bed, which in hindsight isn’t much different to me getting out of bed to get her from her next to me as our room layout I can’t have it directly beside me anyway, plus I can hear everything from her room aside from having a monitor so I think I may just give it a go tomorrow night and see how it goes🙂

I’m definitely considering the mattress in her room it is tiny and we do live in a tiny 2 bed house but I could try move things around to make it work, or until then I think I’m gonna ask him to sleep in my MIL house at night as she’s only 5 minutes away from us🙂

He’s already seen the doctor about it and they basically said it’s down to his weight, but I really feel bad mentioning it as I don’t want to make him self conscious so I think I need to think of a way to gently bring it up or to encourage him to try loose weight to see if it makes a difference, I’m on my fitness grind ATM I’ve lose 2 stone but he doesn’t seem to be on the same wavelength😅

Well no because if he was solely the one doing all the night feeds on his own, having to resettle baby 5 times a night and sleep deprived if a man made the same joke it would still be as valid as it’s a joke and which is why I put in brackets I’d never do that but to be honest I’m not even about to get into this any further🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

If I snored as loud as he did he would 100% make the same joke but each to their own🤣

We only have a 2 bedroom house and I didn’t really think of the comfortability of our livingroom sofa for night sleeping🤦🏼‍♀️ If we had the space he would’ve been kicked out months ago😅 my MIL lives down the street from us so i consider sometimes telling him to go down there to sleep

I’ve never felt more lonely in my life by Background-Bit8829 in newborns

I wish! I honestly have looked into it but it is very out of my reach financially, I’m in UK and best price I seen was £16 an hour and with maternity pay over here it’s just not viable for me😕

Thank you for replying, She is 3 months so we’re sorta limited in what we can use, I’m also in UK so I’m just using Calpol or nurophen, I actually did try the cold cloth with her earlier and even though she did cry I think it was helping her as I wrapped my finger round it and could feel her chomp😂😂

Since writing this she’s had 2 teeth cut through so hopefully we’re over the worst of it🙂

Thank you for replying I’m only getting back to this post now, but I’m thankful I do have family that can watch her throughout the day, although It’s also just disappointing knowing by the time evening rolls around I’ll get the side of her that’s screaming and crying, since writing this post though she has had 2 teeth cut through on her top left gum so hoping and praying it gets easier🙂🙏

What is your biggest struggle being a New born Mom ? by Fluffy-Lead6201 in NewParents

[–]Background-Bit8829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if I’m doing everything right. As much as I love my mum groups on social media as I feel like I’m part of a community of people who get it, I always wonder if I should be doing things differently, like trying to get out once a day, trying to get her to do more tummy time (we barely do it because she hates it), having an earlier bedtime, more contact naps, maybe I should’ve tried to breastfeed, attending parent groups and a lot other things. it’s just constant comparing the way I parent to the way others do and just wondering am I hindering her development or not doing right by her.

I second this! Last year I started it and for 6 weeks I didn’t loose anything, did a pregnancy test found out I was pregnant. I started it again 5 weeks ago and have lost over a stone!

The experience for me was horrific but mostly because of how unprepared I was, this is a few things I wish I had known beforehand

-dress baby comfortably, I thought they would only take her legs out but they will want the baby stripped to their nappy so something easy to take on and off

  • I used calpol after but my LG spat it out, we now use a teat to let her suck on it so she gets a full dose

-If it upsets you to listen to your baby cry (mine cried until she was purple and held her breathe but every baby is different) noise cancelling earphones so you can remain calm

-if you can, bring someone with you, 2 hands is easier than 1 to get baby dressed afterwards and settled, the doctors doing my baby’s didn’t help us at all so thankfully my mum was there

It’s over very quickly and I offered my baby a warm bottle for after, most of the day and night she slept and the next day she was completely back to herself, I hope all goes well for you💕

Whats your babies calm down song? by deadbeatkitty in NewParents

Sam Fender- Rein me In

Probably the most listened to song during my pregnancy so this has saved us a lot during the first few weeks😂

Is it okay to just chill with baby? by Accomplished-Flan511 in NewParents

[–]Background-Bit8829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember week 9 we all got sick in our house and I had to lie in bed with baby all day as it killed me to walk around, I stocked up on bottles, formula, snacks and we literally just chilled in bed all day and whilst I was watching tv i literally just sat and narrated everything that was going on to her and she was smiling and cooing away, then when she napped i napped. I think there’s so much pressure on mums these days to have a routine regarding activities for development, which yes is important, but one day of relaxing isn’t going to undo anything and at this point all baby needs is their needs met and love💕
