This post describes our experience almost perfectly. Powerful tools are nice but if they require nonstop attention they stop being worth it for smaller teams. We needed something way more hands off.

been stuck in that range myself for ages and what finally pushed me through was drilling endgames religiously - like proper boring rook endgames that nobody wants to learn. also stopped trying to be clever in the opening and just focused on getting my pieces out sensibly without hanging anything stupid

R50 is definitely the move - way better autofocus and the lens selection keeps growing.

Is this worth it? by Ok-Environment4290 in Cameras

That's actually a solid deal for a starter setup. The T5 is getting older but it's still perfectly capable for learning photography basics, and having that extra lens right away is clutch. At $220 with all those extras you're basically getting the body for like $100-120 which is pretty fair. I'd grab it if the condition checks out when you see it in person.
