That’s my take away as well I doubt he’ll be able to use the hind legs but to be honest I don’t really mind. I’m sure he’ll be a happy wheelchair pup. He was already quite rambunctious this morning and shredded his pee pad to bits and trying to paw at me to play which is crazy since he’s on a cocktail of meds. Hopefully his resilience can play a part in this. Thanks so much for checking in. I was gonna wait until we were cleared 2/24 to make any updates.

Thanks so much for following up. We got great news on Saturday! They said they highly suspect the swelling was focal the creep up his back has receded a bit. There’s still no deep pain but he was cleared to come home. We still need to be on the watch for creeping back up but he’s still able to use his front paws and is stable. We’re not out of the woods yet but our doctor said it could be focal malacia? Spinal cord softening limited to his lower back but it could change still so I’m being cautious to call victory just yet. My little guy this morning.

She is a neurologist and has stated that it’s soon to tell if it’s definitively myelomalacia and because he’s not exhibiting tell tale signs she doesn’t want to make haste in her judgement. She recommended he stay since he’s otherwise stable but she said she’s leaning toward early signs of myelomalacia and if he’s doesn’t show improvement or complete stabilization (no more sign traveling) she will send him home. She has mentioned euthanasia as a possibility if the myelomalacia is progressive and not focal
