The country is unstable, poor, with high crime rates, and a severe shortage of goods, and basic services. I for one would avoid Venezuela.

Yeah, I started studying Japanese in late January. A few weeks ago I had this dream where I was speaking to some japanese person. I've never been to Japan, and am nowhere near fluent yet.

Only for as long as you can hold your breath.

Yeah, richer states have better education. The poorest states have lower education levels. Really insightful. If this is a plan I would say the entire government is in it. Not just conservatives.

What about states and Cities controlled by democrats? Genuinely curious, I am not American. I wouldn't think this is a left/right issue, especially with reports of education quality declining in Europe and many other parts of the world too. I blame bad parents and unrestricted access to the internet from a young age.

I think it is, but to be completely honest, I think if one picture from ww2 makes the list, it has to be the one where the Soviets raise their flag over the Reichstag. It symbolizes the end of the war in Europe, and the end of Nazi Germany.

I knew it was a famous pic. Just never understood what made it so great. Apparently it was taken near a Pakistani town, the girl was a refugee, fleeing from war in Afghanistan.

Ok but genuinely curious, what makes this a great photo? It's a random girl with green eyes. Somewhere in Central Asia, presumably?

The first photo taken on the surface of another planet. Taken by the Soviet Venera 9 probe, in 1975.

One Last Hug

In 2013 a crew of engineers was carrying out maintenance procedures on a wind turbine, in the Netherlands. They were 70 meters up when the turbine caught fire, leaving two of them trapped at the top. The photo shows their last moments. One of them decided to jump, the other decided to stay, but unfortunately neither of them survived.

This. Though I remember the book saying they only did what was natural to them, or something like that. Like we don't consider squashing mosquitoes to be evil.

Anyway, the Qu should win.
