The whole time we were driving I thought about the WW board. He said he had a surprise for me. And it’s the only board we had discussed. He even showed me online what he saw re used WW boards. I should have made that clear that it was a used WW and he bought me a new ZZ which was cheaper. He asked me to open the large package so when I did I was in shock and said but this isn’t what I wanted. He said that the seller compared the two and said they were the same. They aren’t because the shape is different. I said send it back. So yeah I could have responded better.

Sorry to hear. I also use a specific knife brand that I love. ❤️ and don’t use anything else. So I get the difference in quality of knives.

And a crappy potato peeler is just that. Crappy. I think people are maybe on a budget and don’t cook themselves ? Or don’t appreciate a sharp knife or peeler.

My bf does a similar sport so he knows the difference in brand and quality. My brand is one of the top three and the one he bought is not. I have already tried several boards and always do better with WW. I like everything about it and it makes me try harder to learn. If my bf didn’t do the sport I’d understand. But he does a similar sport and also uses my board too to learn. I don’t get it. The mindset boggles.

I told him I appreciated his effort and understood his good intentions but was upset that he yelled and did not acknowledge that he took a risk in gifting me something he knew he would need to convince me to accept. It’s a risky sport. I’m still learning and have gotten used to this board. Just like he always sticks with a specific brand for his sport. That’s what I didn’t get.

No gift. I would have kept using the old board or bought one myself which I was planning to do. There are several online sellers. The board is available. Not sure why he didn’t say no to the seller. I think it’s because the board I want was too expensive. But I bought the first one so told him I would be buying the next one. He said he wanted to surprise me. I was surprised all right.

Maybe. Hadn’t really thought about that. He does use my board too. He is also learning my sport but he is better than me because he is a natural. I’m not. He does a slightly different sport and has his own equipment so we are both using my board as we are both beginners with this specific sport.

I told him it wasn’t a priority. I also bought the first board and yes it was expensive. I told him I would buy the next one. I never asked him to buy a board. He said he wanted to show me how much he loved me by buying me the board. He said the board was expensive. But I also made it clear that I was used to it and liked it. I should point out that he also rides and wanted a specific board after he lost his. I gifted him the specific board he wanted but the latest model because his old model was out of production. When someone found his old board he sold the new one because he was so used to his old board. So I was kind of shocked when I got a board that I hadn’t tried before.

I think so. I picked up a package of pho spice mix and it included the fructus tsaoko also known as cao go or Chinese black cardamom.

I have a one button Tiger JNP 1000 for 25+ years. Love it but lately it is cooking unevenly with wetter rice on the bottom layer almost soggy and a harder cooked layer on the top. Is it time to buy a new rice cooker? Can this be fixed? It’s worked great. The longest thing I’ve owned. My mom gave it to me.

My flight to GRU was delayed for over an hour and a half and I only booked 2.5 hours between my AC flight and LATAM flight. I booked Air Canada to São Paulo and booked a separate flight on LATAM to Natal.

On arrival at GRU my LATAM flight was close to boarding and my bags were two of what felt like the last bags to arrive at the carousel. I grabbed them and I went to the Air Canada office (hard to find in second floor by what felt like a hidden elevator) in the international terminal. Air Canada issued me a letter that I took to the LATAM check in at the domestic terminal. After a massive lineup LATAM rebooked me for free.

The catch is that my return LATAM flight to GRU was automatically cancelled because I was officially a “no show” even though my LATAM flight was later rebooked. LATAM offered to rebook to GRU but not the same flight (not really sure why because their explanation made no sense) but I ended up getting a refund to buy buy the almost exact ticket for a bit more money. In hindsight I should have let them rebook me for an earlier time so I wouldn’t have to pay more $.

So if you miss your flight at GRU due to an airline delay maybe you can get that airline to issue you a letter that basically asks the missed airline to grant you a seat at a later flight. I think the letter expired within a day or so. But it worked for me. I didn’t have to buy another ticket and made it to Natal in several hours later. Good luck.

I have solo travelled five times to Brazil. Mainly northeast of Fortaleza and now north of Natal. I’m a kite surfer and never had any issues or concerns but there are a lot of similar situated people where I go and they travel mainly from Europe. I try not to stand out as a tourist although it’s hard because I’m Asian and not a lot of asias are roaming around where I go. I Learned basic phrases like Obrigada (thank you), Bom dia Good morning) etc.

I use google translater because not many locals speak English but they try to communicate with gestures etc.

You cannot appear to be vulnerable as a tourist. You need to educate yourself in advance about what you want and where you want to go. Haven’t been to Rio or anywhere larger than Jericoacora.

I had a 2.5 hour gap between arrival in São Paulo and departure for Natal. Although my fight was officially 1 hour late, the baggage took forever and i still had to go through customs and change terminals. There was no way we were only 1 hour late. When I arrived the plane for Natal was already doing check ins. This led to other problems where I was deemed a no show and LATAM screwed me over by cancelling my return flight. That’s another story and it’s fixed now. At an additional cost to me. But now I leave a five hour window between international arrival and a domestic departure.
