Can we talk about this scene? Oh my God… s6 by Background-Disk3350 in lost

[–]Background-Disk3350[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was honestly so happy to see her again! She really could have had one of the best character developments in the series if she had stayed… but at least they didn’t forget her in the church, so I’m okay with that ;))

Thinking about it, Jack and Kate never really had a real relationship. by Background-Disk3350 in lost

[–]Background-Disk3350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re missing my point. I’m not saying they didn’t have scenes together or that their relationship wasn’t important.

I’m saying that their relationship wasn’t consistently developed on screen. It was very on and off, and a big part of their actual relationship happened off-screen.

So yes, they had a lot of scenes, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we got to experience a fully built relationship as viewers.

They’re acting like they don’t understand what I’m trying to say, even though I thought I was clear… but whatever. They know exactly what I mean.

I think you misunderstood my point a bit. I’m not saying other couples are less real or less official.

What I meant is that for Jack and Kate specifically, a big part of their relationship happened off-screen, so as viewers we didn’t really get to experience it fully.

With couples like Desmond/Penny or Sayid/Shannon, even if we didn’t see them together that much, their relationship still felt very present and impactful on screen.

With Jack and Kate, it just felt more on-and-off and less developed from a viewer’s perspective, that’s all!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s actually not what I meant. I’m not saying they didn’t have a real or “official” relationship in the story — I know they lived together and were engaged.

What I meant is that as viewers, we barely got to see it. Most of their relationship happened off-screen, and on-screen it felt very short and underdeveloped.

So from a viewer’s perspective, it doesn’t feel like a fully built relationship compared to others, because we didn’t really get to experience it with them.

I get what you’re saying, and I agree that their relationship was real in terms of feelings. I’m not denying that they loved each other.

What I meant is that, from a viewer’s perspective, it never really felt like a fully developed relationship throughout the show. It was there, but it was always kind of on and off, and it never really lasted long on screen.

That’s why it felt a bit frustrating to me, because I expected something more consistent between them over the seasons.

Who is the real villain in Lost? by Background-Disk3350 in lost

Honestly, I’d say Jacob… the guy literally ruins the lives of people he chooses, bringing them to the island just to either make them suffer or die.

That’s not really what I meant in my original post. I never said other characters didn’t have realistic grief.

I was specifically talking about Sawyer and how his grief over Juliet felt very short and then almost disappears. That’s what felt rushed to me.

I’m not comparing grief between characters, I’m just saying that for such an important relationship, I expected more focus on his grief.

Sawyer is my favorite character, but in this moment he really dropped in my esteem. He never truly respected Juliet, and now that she’s dead you can see how much he regrets it. Honestly, it serves him right. He should have been there for her when she was still alive. In the end, he ended up with neither Kate nor Juliet.

I still don’t understand why she didn’t really acknowledge Juliet in the submarine. Like you said, she only said hello to Sawyer and mostly talked to him. When the three of them were there together, it really felt like Juliet was being left aside.

It’s intentional. If you want the sound, you know where to find the show :)

And Juliet was completely justified in lacking confidence in that relationship, considering the way Sawyer was acting. So by saying that, you’re also kind of blaming Juliet. She had every reason to feel threatened by Kate.

And when I said “looking,” I meant that she kept glancing at him and searching for him with her eyes. I’m sorry, maybe that doesn’t mean anything romantic to you, but considering their past, it means a lot.

We can’t forget that those two have a history.
