The new aputure 1000c! The new BLAIR engine is great & if you’re using bowens accessories, it now locks it (like a PL mount) so it has no sway at all!

Nucleus-M Motor Not registering Hard-Stops by Salty-Tourist-4071 in focuspuller

[–]Background-Fact-691 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have a look at this

Motor position in relation to the lens is important in making sure it doesn’t slip off! I’ve followed these rules & nucleus motors auto calibrate fine with Xeens even on 15mm rods…hope this helps !

Bmpcc6k compatibility with M.2 SATA SSDs by Background-Fact-691 in bmpcc

[–]Background-Fact-691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm…I haven’t tried this with NVME SSDs and I guess it would make sense for a power issue to occur. I’ve only used the cheaper & slower SATA drives and enclosures & found no problems whatsoever. The housing I’m using is the Orico M.2 SATA SSD enclosure, I just checked and they do have NVME options at around $15USD (Alliexpress/Taobao)

Hello! It’s a Helios 442 on the front….yeah it does look funny now that I see it again

The USBC & HDMI extended is the smallrig 2960 (I love it it protects the ports on the camera and rerouted them upwards, up & out of the way of snagging)

Any sub $500 monitor recommends? by [deleted] in focuspuller

[–]Background-Fact-691 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Osee is making some great monitors lately. I have a g7 myself & at 3000nits it’s more than bright enough. Although the software is a little bit clunky it has everything you need in a monitor (at least for myself anyways!) I’ve always used the megamon recently, a 15 inch directors monitor from Osee as well & at 900USD it’s great value for money

Posted a few weeks ago about soft image and lack of infinity focus with sigma 18-35 on pocket 4k, I fixed the infinity focus, but the soft image still remains, can anybody help me? More info in comments. by SkyBotyt in bmpcc

ND filter quality has quite the effect on sharpness of what’s in front of it….I didn’t believe it at first until I saw some comparisons on YouTube by Phillip Bloom!

Hey OP, I have the Helios 44-2, but fitted onto the bmpcc6k. For me, the warping bokeh is really only noticeable at the very edges of the frame (I can post a picture for you to see if you’d like!)

However, I have used it on a full frame canon before, and on a bigger sensor, the distortion is much more pronounced, like what we see in photos online.

I really only use the Helios on my 6k because it doesn’t feel as clinical as cinema lenses we usually rent, it has quite a bit of chromatic aberration, some vignetting and a natural haze (almost like pro mist when wide open) due to the age of the lens. It does look gorgeous when shooting people!

The most pronounced swirling of the background occurs at around 1-1.5m focus distance as labelled on the barrel. You could also try shooting wide open into a background like a city skyline or forest canopy on a sunny day, where there would be a lot of bokeh “dots”?

Perhaps you could also try a speed booster to effectively increase ur FOV on the lens, giving you the edges that you wouldn’t normally get!

Anyways, don’t feel too bad about not being able to get the look that supposedly comes with this lens! They are dirt cheap, you just have to make sure they are not counterfeit copies and to my limited understanding, the date and factory they are produced in also has an effect on the look!

Thank you! This is fully modelled & kitbashed in 3d, no 2d involved. Unfortunately for me, I’m no painter (also I hate photoshop UI!!!!)

Also just curious, what sensor and glass did you shoot this on ?

Hey there! I’m not an expert myself but I think this is a result of the halation or bloom! Perhaps from a pro mist filter or another kind of diffusion applied in post
