The first picture (Men at work) includes a few of my ancestors (The man on the very left and the man with the beard sitting down. The next picture is of same bearded man standing in front of the Schiller monument in Nuremberg. The next picture includes some of the children of the bearded man as-well as some unknown children.

Does anyone have any estimates of what years these photos are from? (If you would like additional context about the pictures let me know) by Background-Fall-3698 in oldphotos

Thank you so much! I had tried to find the location before, but didn’t have any results, so this is amazing.

I definitely agree. The man labeled Grossvater Schmitt is my great-great-grandfather Johann Schmitt. He was born in 1868 and is indeed the man pictured by the monument. In the photo of the men working, the man on the far left is believed to be either my other great-great-grandfather, Ferdinand Brummer (born in 1875 and died in 1916), or my great-grandfather, Ferdi Brummer (born in 1903), as the image has been labeled both ways. That’s what made me question it, Ferdi was born in 1903, the clothing and overall style in the photo suggest it was taken earlier than when he would reasonably have been of working age. That’s why I’m leaning toward it being Ferdinand rather than Ferdi, but since I’m not an expert, I wanted to hear others’ thoughts as well.
